How Ed Sheeran Became Famous

Ed Sheeranis not your usual story of how a guy became famous.

What’s the usual story, anyway? Well Justin Timberlake would fit into that mold. He became famous when he was a kid. Then he was famous as part of a boy band, and then he really showed his talent through a fruitful solo career.

Ed Sheeran was a complete anonymous before he literally hit the fame overnight.

His unusual story proves that talent is not all it takes. Without hard work, it’s nothing.

Many people appreciate his music, but don’t know that Ed was homeless for over two years. Yes; we’re talking about an actual homeless guy who slept on Circle Line trains after playing a gig. Perhaps it’s because of this experience that he remained so down to earth after becoming a millionaire. Ed Sheeran is known for being one of the most charitable celebrities in the world of music.

Ed’s Life Story

What is it with bullies and ginger kids?

Through a research for University College Cork, Kevin O’Regan found that over 90% of red-hair men have been bullied throughout their lives. Why? – Because of their hair color.

Ed Sheeran was also heavily bullied, but not justbecause of his hair. He also had speech problems and a lazy eye, which occurred as side effects of a surgery that he had as a kid. Add being ginger to that, and you have the perfect combination that attracts bullies your way.

When Ed tried speaking up at school, he would freeze and his classmates would laugh at him. We’re all lucky that he overcame his social anxiety issues through music. The speech problems would magically go away when he started singing.

How does he feel nowabout being ginger?

It’s actually the thing that helped him rise to fame.

“Being ginger can seem like a bad thing when you are young but as a musician it has been my saving grace – because if you see a ginger kid on TV and there is only one messy-haired ginger kid who plays guitar, it is very easy to find them on YouTube.”

Not Being Boring Was a Great Thing!

As Ed said in this speech, if you try too hard to be the coolest kid in class, you end up being boring. But if you accept yourself with all your flaws and imperfections, you’ll push forward and you’ll do alright.

Ed was very right about something: music was his thing. He knew he wouldn’t be accepted as a star right away, but he was ready to work for it. In 2008, he packed some clothes, took his guitar and went to London to do his music.

If you’re planning to get a musical instrument like a digital piano, Piano Nadu is a great place to start.

He did well. He got gigs and did his music. But that’s when things got tough.

He was homeless. “I knew where I could get a bed at a certain time of night and I knew who I could call at any time to get a floor to sleep on,” – he said. “Being sociable helped. Drinking helped.”

Couldn’t Ed Sheeran stay at school and find a way to get a degree? Couldn’t he study and use a research paper service with expert writers at Edubirdie for challenging projects, just like any normal student would do?

Sure, he could.

But he decided to follow his dreams instead.

Why Did Ed Sheeran Get Famous?

Two factors determined his chance for success:

    • He is a very talented musician. The usual singer needs a band a lot of technology to perform a show. Take Madonna as an example. Sure; she is talented, but it’s all the pizzaz in addition to her talent that made her a star.

With Ed Sheeran, it’s just talent. You see him taking over a stage with nothing but a guitar and his voice. And he’s perfect just as he is.

    • Hard work and more hard work. When people mocked him, he worked harder. When he had nowhere to sleep, he kept working on his music. Ed never gave up for the sake of following a safer road. He knew he deserved success and he got it.

Ed Sheeran’s Life Is More than an Inspiring Story

It’s reality.

Talented musicians don’t pop out of nowhere with their albumsand videos. There is a lot of hard work and dedication before the culmination that we see on stage.

Many talented individuals failed to reach their potential because they didn’t commit themselves enough to the goal. Not-so-talented musicians did it because they compensated for the lack of talent with hard work. Ed Sheeran had the best of both worlds: a great talent and a strong character. That’s why he became famous.

By the way, did you listen to Beautiful People, Ed’s latest single? It beautifully captures the point of his story, don’t you think?
