On rotation this week is the rising artist mau from nowhere. The artist has just released his new EP Soft Steps, a fantastic project which sees the Kenyan-British artist traverse alt-afro-fusion, R&B, and electronic soundscapes. EP track “Fly” is full of serene, unique vocals, and warm production. It’s simply gorgeous. Speaking about the EP, mau said it’s about “putting one foot in front of the other in a gentle way. It is an ode to patience, navigating growth, and the trials that come with it”. Don’t sleep on this artist. Singer-songwriter Rona Mac is back with her sophomore record, Honeymilk and Heavy Weather. There are plenty of delicate melodies in this project which blends alt-folk, Americana and pop together seamlessly. Make sure you listen to the album track “Afon Cleddau”. It’s full of brilliant dynamics and stellar vocals. Next up, you need to listen to “Precious” by South London singer-songwriter BINA. The artist has shared her new EP, Chaos Is Her Name. Thematically, the project sees BINA. reflect on her journey of self-discovery over the past three years. “Precious” is full of soulful vocals, slinky bass, and effortlessly cool sonics. Make sure to catch her headline show at the Old St Pancras Church, London, on November 14th. THE NYC-based rising artist ASH has shared her debut EP, Holding Water. The EP boasts decent vocals and intricate electronic production. Listen to the title track for alt-R&B sonics.

Elsewhere in the playlist, you can find the emerging and talented newcomer, Winny. The 25-year-old from Nigeria has released the infectious tune, “Lego”. It’s an afro-reggae gem from start to finish with the most impeccable vibes. According to the songwriter, “Lego” is about “the emotional struggle of being caught in a complicated relationship, between love and self-protection”. Sophie Ellis-Bextor is back with a new track called “Freedom of the Night” via her new record label, Decca Records. It’s a fun, energetic disco-pop anthem full of Ellis-Bextor’s signature vocals. Isabella Lovestory has dropped the addictive dance-floor-filler, “Puchica”. The Spanish-speaking track has an addictive beat and puchica is the Honduran slang word for ‘damn’. Finally, Chloé Caillet has teamed up with fellow singer and producer SG Lewis for “B Somebody”. There’s pulsing synths, pristine vocals, and a fast-paced beat.
