easyclear | ‘Green’ EP

London-based artist easyclear—the solo project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Luke Deacon—releases his debut EP Green, a richly textured collection that explores the emotional tension between nature and technology. Out now, the project is a bold yet tender fusion of acoustic storytelling and electronic experimentation, crafted with a deft touch that signals the arrival of a unique new voice in alternative music.

Produced by Alex O’Donovan (Sea Girls, Kelly Lee Owens, Boston Manor) at Strongroom Studios, Green is as sonically lush as it is emotionally resonant. Deacon’s compositions begin in the organic—fingerpicked guitars, raw melodies, classical motifs—but evolve through layers of analog synths, tape-manipulated textures, and bold electronic flourishes. The result is a sound that sits comfortably between folk and future-facing indie, reminiscent of artists like Djo, Westerman, and Arthur Russell.

“Worldbuilding was one of my favourite aspects of making Green,” Deacon shares. “I started with these very bare, delicate songs, and then let the production evolve naturally—sometimes harmoniously, sometimes in more discordant, cartoonish ways. I began to see some of the sounds as characters themselves—a ghostly cat solo on The Pigeon, birds on Interlude. That sense of expressiveness made everything come alive.”

The EP is led by the standout single ‘Teammate’, a glowing, groove-laced meditation on companionship. Swirling synths, punchy drums, and warped, nostalgic flourishes create a warm yet otherworldly palette for Deacon’s emotive vocals. Each track on Green similarly plays with contrast—melding folk-rooted intimacy with sprawling, cinematic sound design.

Before stepping into his solo project, Deacon was known for his work in bands like Young Khan (a forerunner to Sea Girls) and the harmony-rich pop outfit Kid Jupiter. Now with Green, easyclear signals the arrival of a refined solo identity—emotionally charged, sonically adventurous, and unmistakably personal.

easyclear is fast becoming one of the most intriguing new names in the UK alt scene. Green not only confirms the promise of those early singles but establishes a sound that’s as intimate as it is expansive.
