The latest in new music from RIIZE, Moonchild Sanelly, Bloc Party, Flores Blue & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.
On rotation this week is the Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Jax Jones. The artist has teamed up with fellow acclaimed DJ Joel Corry and global superstar Jason Derulo on the new single, “Tonight (D.I.Y.A). It’s an upbeat and club-ready tune to soundtrack your summer nights. Next up, the K-pop boyband RIIZE have released the stellar debut EP, RIIZING. “Boom Boom Bass” is lifted from the project and it’s an anthemic disco-funk rollercoaster. South African musician Moonchild Sanelly is back with her latest track, “Scrambled Eggs”, it’s an infectious release with her trademark unique vocals, electronic textures, it’s unapologetically confident. You can catch her live at Glastonbury Festival this weekend on multiple occasions. American pop artist Maris has shared the new track “The Fight”. Thematically, the song is about a cat called Cheese she desperately wanted to adopt but couldn’t as she didn’t have the space, time, or money to give her a good life. Sonically, “The Fight” has serene vocals and lush production.
Elsewhere in the playlist, alt-rock duo senses have shared the incredible new single “maybe”. It has heavy guitar riffs, strong vocals, and pounding drums. The group’s front-person, Madison Taylor said: “We’ve always really loved the essence of the song but were never able to get it to the right place for us to release it until now”. Thematically, it’s about the anxiety you can deal with when overthinking. Draumr have released the new single “Things To Say To Yourself” featuring Matya. The vibes on this song are immaculate, thanks to the slinky bass, crisp vocals, and synths. Indie legends Bloc Party are back with the single, “Flirting Again”. Catch the legendary band at Crystal Palace Park in London on July 7. August At Night has shared the beautiful acoustic-led single, “Glow”, it’s cinematic, full of tender vocals, and delicate production.
Emerging singer-songwriter Flores Blue has shared her debut single, “Cold, Hard Running Ground. It’s a brilliant indie-rock love song with gorgeous vocals, dreamy guitars, and 90s-rock influences. Although it may be a short experience, clocking in at 2 minutes and 17 seconds, it’s certainly an exceptional release that showcases Blue’s clear talent and future star status. “Cold, Hard Running Ground” is lifted from her forthcoming debut EP Entertain which drops on August 30 by No Roads Records. Finally, Australian indie-folk artist Chris Lanzon has released the new single, “Technicolo(u)r”. It’s a moving release with perfect vocals, go check it out.
