1883 On Rotation: Halsey, Mysie, Rebekka Louise

The latest in new music from Halsey, Mysie, Rebekka Louise, Man/Woman/Chainsaw & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.

On rotation this week is the brand new single from the Grammy nominated artist, Halsey. The acclaimed genre-bending artist is back with the single “Lucky”. It’s an understated anthem with flawless vocals and vibrant production – it even features an interpolation of Britney Spears’s “Lucky”. This is Halsey’s first single in more than two years and the accompanying video was directed by director Gia Coppola, what a comeback! Next up, the emerging songwriter Sophie Kilburn is continuing to evolve and “Still in the City” is her best work yet. It boasts serene, unwavering vocals, introspective lyricism, and a catchy chorus. Go check it out. South London artist Mysie has shared the track “LITTLE TOO LATE”. The fast-paced, dance-oriented beat combined with Mysie’s commanding vocals is undeniably infectious. It’s lifted from the artist’s forthcoming debut mixtape CONTROLLA which is due September 27. The talented rising pop star, Rebekka Louise, has shared her debut LP, Shame Is An Old Friend. The record delves into the complexities of mental health and the challenges it can bring. It’s an eight-track record that highlights Rebekka’s penchant for writing and producing heartfelt, slow-burning electronica-tinged gems. Make sure to listen to “Leave Me Be”. It is an incredible first record from the Norwegian artist.

Elsewhere in the playlist, you can find the New York band Matter of Minutes. The four-piece have shared the lush tune, “Fireflies”. It’s a tender indie tune that combines elements of alt, folk, and rock, packed with delicate orchestration and soaring melodies. First Day of Spring have shared the effortlessly cool single, “The Rising Tide”. It’s a beautiful concoction of shoegaze, alt-rock, and sharp guitar riffs, complemented by crisp drum production, and slick vocals. The band’s sophomore EP BE MY HOSPITAL drops August 9. The buzzy and creative newcomers, Man/Woman/Chainsaw have shared the orchestral and utterly gorgeous single, “Ode To Clio”. The band’s skill in transitioning from serenity to chaotic, wild noise is superb. The strings are also just to die for. The band’s debut EP Eazy Peazy is out November 8. Don’t sleep on this band. Finally, alt-pop superstar Nessa Barrett is back with the track, “PASSENGER PRINCESS”. Thematically, the song represents the intense honeymoon phase when you first enter into a new relationship. Spoiler alert: it’s a straight pop banger. Catch Nessa at Yungblud’s Bludfest on August 11.
