The latest in new music from Wolf Alice, Florence + The Machine, Doja Cat, Dominic Fike & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.

On rotation this week, Wolf Alice are back with their exceptional fourth studio album, The Clearing. Produced by Greg Kurstin, their major-label debut release is simply beautiful with its warm production, stunning vocals, and delicate instrumentals. The band are more confident, mature, and not afraid to explore the softer side of things. Make sure to listen to the album track “Just Two Girls” for effortlessly catchy sonics.

Florence + The Machine is embracing spiritual mysticism, witchcraft and horror on the new single “Everybody Scream”. It’s haunting, full of Florence’s signature vocals, and completely enthralling. The song is the title track of her forthcoming sixth studio record, which lands on Halloween, October 31. Overall, the LP will traverse themes of womanhood, partnership, ageing and dying; exposing the murky in the mundane.

Cult of Venus has released her new EP Algorithm with the new single “Silence”, via Liberty Belle Records/FUTURES/Virgin Music. “Silence” is a thrilling slice of electro with pristine vocals. Speaking about the track, she said: “The power of silence is often overlooked. Using your voice or choosing not to can have an equally powerful impact. What is not said can carry an immense weight”.

Grammy award-winning artist Doja Cat has announced her forthcoming fifth LP Vie, due out September 26. To mark the release, Doja has shared the album single “Jealous Type”. It’s full of 80s-inspired sonics and slick vocals. The artist will head out on her first-ever New Zealand, Australia and Asia stint of dates in November and December as part of the Ma Vie World Tour.

Singer, songwriter and rapper Dominic Fike has released his 12-track mixtape entitled Rocket via Columbia Records. “Great Pretender” is a clear standout with driving percussion, a woozy baseline, and introspective lyricism.

Forward-thinking Swedish musician and composer Anna von Hausswolff has released two lead singles from her new record Iconoclasts, which is being released on October 31. Single “The Whole Woman” is a moving ballad featuring a duet with punk icon, Iggy Pop. Discussing “The Whole Woman”, she reflects: “This love song is a tribute to the man who knows how to listen; it is for the woman who is brave enough to dive in.”

Indie rockers Lovejoy have shared the hypnotic tune, “Pay & Display”. It comes off the back of the previous track “With Rob As My Witness” which has garnered more than 1.5 million streams on Spotify. Lovejoy’s new LP One Simple Trick drops on October 3. Catch the band on a US and Canada headline tour throughout October and November.

Finally, alt-music veteran Mac DeMarco has shared the new track “Phantom”. It’s a short but peaceful experience.
