1883 Sessions – Holly Blair – Where You Are

Holly Blair performs Where You Are, pulled from her debut EP, for 1883 Sessions.

For LA-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and filmmaker Holly Blair, it always comes back to storytelling. Whether it’s through film or music, her knack for writing and crafting narratives is what you first hear when you dive into her debut collection of work — her EP One Step Away Is Too Far. The EP is a sprawling sonic exploration of what it means to exist within the in-between — uncovering the different human emotions and picking them apart in order to better understand. For Blair, a queer and gender-fluid artist, it’s about better understanding themselves in order to better understand the world and the messy humans that live within it.

To celebrate the release of One Step Away Is Too Far, Holly Blair records a live edition of Where You Are from her debut EP. The song is, at its core, about missed connections. On the track, she states “It’s really the story of a great love of my life. We were always in the same place for so long but our lives never found each other, and when they finally did, we didn’t understand how we had ever been apart.”
