With her new EP Apt 1101, rising alt-pop artist Chloe Star proves she’s unafraid to blur the lines between vulnerability and rebellion. Across five tracks, Star crafts a body of work that is as raw as it is electric; melding confessional lyricism with live instrumentation to capture moments of chaos, intimacy, and self-discovery. Written largely in New York and recorded with a live band, Apt 1101 plays like an open diary left on the edge of a stage: bold, unfiltered, and impossible to ignore.

BAD HABIT

“Bad Habit” explores the feeling of being someone else’s vice while also battling your own. It captures the duality of being the problem and living with the problem stuck between self-sabotage and codependency. I wrote Bad Habit in New York and recorded it with a live band. The process felt very organic and just flowed into something raw, real, and entirely unexpected.

THIGH TATTOO

I wrote “Thigh Tattoo” about a girl I fell for. She was someone who, like me, wears her story on her skin. She had two thigh tattoos and this wild, magnetic energy that mirrored my own. We connected deeply through our similarities, like two reflections of the same fire. Her love was raw, real, and unmatched. She always wore black boots and was bold, grounded, unforgettable. She will always have a place in my heart. I wrote this song while I was in New York and recorded it with a live band, which made the whole process feel electric. It was such a fun experience, especially because it’s a guitar-driven track and creating on guitar is where I feel most at home.

REPUTATION

“Reputation” is about the feeling of being misunderstood. I feel like the world only sees the surface and never stops to read the story underneath. I’ve often felt like people judge me based on what they see online, forming opinions without really knowing who I am. This song came from that frustration. It’s the experience of carrying a reputation that doesn’t tell the whole truth.

ROCKSTAR

Like “Reputation,” “Rockstar” taps into the same theme, but from a different angle. While “Reputation” speaks to being misunderstood, “Rockstar” is the embodiment of that perception. It tells the story of what people think the rockstar lifestyle is—chaotic, wild, glamorous, without seeing the reality behind the curtain. It’s the performance of the persona everyone assumes, even when they don’t truly know what’s going on underneath.

TEDDY BEAR

“Teddy Bear” all I have to say is: sex anthem. This one was a fun challenge for me. I stepped into a different world sonically and creatively, pushing myself to fully embrace my feminine energy, especially in the way I approach music. It’s playful, bold, and definitely one of the most freeing songs I’ve made.
