Between releasing viral hits and working with the likes of Nile Rodgers, fast-rising pop artist INJI is always busy. 1883 Magazine last caught up with the songwriter in October last year. While gigging across Europe and North America, INJI has taken 1883 Magazine on tour and crafted an exclusive photo diary to get a look into a few moments from life on the road.

In Berlin, we had a lot of cool stage props ranging from shopping carts to construction signs. I tell people I had a huge team of the best art directors and custom prop designers on the case. The reality? We found all of this on the streets of Berlin… and put it in our van… and then on stage!
Thought touring was a glamorous, comfortable experience? Think again. After it started pouring on us in classic Berlin fashion, with no festival transport to take us back home, we found ourselves taking shelter under what I assumed to be the trucks that carried Justin Timberlake’s production.
Curious what that expression on my face is? That’s pure euphoria, my friend.
Pictured a 5’4 girl in an adorable Paris neighbourhood, with lots of heavy cases that she’s going to refuse to carry and then proceed to get annoyed looks from her crew.

The main stage at Paris Lollapalooza, four hours after. I still can’t believe this picture.
Your tour crew becomes your family – whether you want it or not. This is me and my genius drummer, Joey, sharing a drunken euphoric moment right before the show.
Now we’re all the way in Montreal, Canada. My drummer Joey, knows the brand of my highlighter and full makeup routine at this point. Did I mention the makeup routine comes with the sound effect of me warming up, usually shouting syllables like “gug gug gug gug” or “mom mom mom mom” to an arpeggio? Even an angel couldn’t make that sound bearable…
The thing that makes it all worth it – the people! The coolest people on earth are my audience. (yeah, I said that) When industry people ask me what my audience is like, I always tell them it’s a huge group of people I’d genuinely want to be friends with. Every other musician can be so jealous because I have the coolest fanbase. (also according to this photo, the most attractive.)
Last but not least, me immediately after playing to 10,000 people at Outside Lands in San Francisco. I collapsed on the floor in pure joy. Thank you for allowing me to live my dream every single day. To everyone on this journey with me, listening, coming to shows, I love you, bitch.
