Matt Koelsch is entering a new phase of creative expansion. The New England–born singer-songwriter, celebrated for his authenticity and heartfelt performances, is set to tour the UK as part of Wet Wet Wet’s 2025 run, while also marking his debut as a film composer with the original score for The Anger, directed by Anthony Knasas.

The tour, which spans ten cities from October to November, promises an emotional journey shared with audiences. From Bath Forum to London’s iconic Indigo at The O2, Koelsch, who continues to release music through Turbulent Records, will open each night with a set grounded in sincerity and connection.

“I come from the heart—and I give it everything I’ve got. I believe the audience is just as much a part of the show as I am. Whether it’s an intimate venue, a historic cathedral, or a full auditorium, I aim to create a genuine connection. When I open up, you open up—and something special happens. That energy, that exchange, is the magic I live for on stage,” he shares. It’s a philosophy that has guided him from the start: music as a bridge between experience and emotion.

Sharing the stage with legendary acts like Wet Wet Wet and Heather Small further solidifies Koelsch’s artistic path and highlights his versatility. Blending pop, rock, and contemporary folk, his performances strike a balance between brightness and introspective melody: a dynamic mix of energy and vulnerability that keeps audiences captivated from the first note.

Alongside his live performances, Koelsch’s venture into cinema reveals a deeper creative dimension. “The Anger” is a psychological drama with horror undertones that pushed him to explore sonic textures and emotional structures beyond traditional songwriting. Working closely with director Anthony Knasas, both in person and remotely, Koelsch crafted a unified sonic identity centered on a single recurring theme. Its variations, at times minimal, at others driven by percussion and deep resonant drums, give the score its rhythmic tension and emotional flow, underscoring his evolution as a composer.

“One of the most surprising and rewarding aspects of this project was seeing how cinematic the film looked—especially knowing it was shot almost entirely on an iPhone 14, aside from a few drone shots. Some scenes are genuinely stunning, and it’s a testament to the creativity and resourcefulness behind the project.”

Recorded during the pandemic, “The Anger” evolved into a true passion project. For Koelsch, it offered a chance to expand his artistic voice, swapping chords and choruses for cinematic moods and emotion. Between the stage and the studio, 2025 is shaping up to be a defining year, one that reaffirms his gift for connection, whether through a soaring melody or a haunting string passage.
