Located in the iconic sunset strip, 1 Hotel West Hollywood provides a premium experience in a luxurious and nature-inspired environment.
WEHO’s sunset strip is home to a wealth of reputable and legendary hotels, venues, shops, and more. However, the 1 Hotel West Hollywood sets itself apart from its competitors thanks to its serene surroundings and focus on sustainability. With architecture from Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, interior design from Avroko, and landscape design from Rios Clementi Hale Studios, as soon as you step onto the hotel’s central premises, you will be greeted with a green oasis. The towering building is surrounded by greenery and immaculate landscaping even before you venture through the front door and the theme continues once you get inside.
The hotel champions sustainability by using natural wood furniture such as reclaimed cedar, oak and older wood. Many of the sections of the hotel’s interior have been crafted from older and used materials. 1 Hotel WEHO also utilises natural lighting in many of its spaces and guest rooms where possible, even the carpets in the bedrooms are made from recycled materials such as ocean plastics. Another final example of its green credentials is that it’s a certified LEED silver in the EPA’s Energy Star program and the building boasts energy-efficient heating and cooling systems.
When it comes to sleeping, the hotel has 235 guest rooms, specifically 168 king-sized rooms, 67 two-double bedrooms, 50 suites, two penthouses, 35 junior rooms, 13 one-bedroom, and two penthouses. 1883 stayed in 1 Hotel West Hollywood’s fantastic skyline two double bedroom, which takes up 335 to 486 square feet. Undoubtedly throughout 1883’s trip to sunny Los Angeles, where we stayed in many different areas and hotels, the 1 Hotel WEHO was home to the most comfiest of beds and the level of detail that is put into their rooms is just exceptional. The room was kitted out with plush pillow-top mattresses with organic bedding, a 50-inch HD Smart TV, 24-hour in-room dining, and brilliant views of the West Hollywood area.
The room and its ensuite bathroom felt carefully thought out and the running theme of a nature-inspired sanctuary continued within the space as plants draped from a shelf near the ceiling. If you want to peruse a minibar full of artisanal products from local businesses then you can. If you want to take up some yoga before you head out for your day ahead, you can as the hotel provides yoga mats, it’s the small details which highlight that the hotel cares for its guests.
Alongside the more than comfortable and well-equipped rooms, there is an abundance of things you can do within the hotel before you venture out to explore the neighbouring Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and beyond. If you’re in the mood for some delicious food or a refreshing beverage there are many different spaces available for you to try. Harriet’s Rooftop is a sophisticated cocktail lounge with a truly unparalleled panoramic view of LA. The 1 Kitchen, run by reputable chef Ginger Pierce, serves fresh, local cuisine until 4pm. These are just some of the examples available to indulge your tastebuds.
Interestingly, the weather in January is seen as cold by the locals but when compared to the weather in the UK, it’s like a warm summer’s day. The hotel does offer The Pool Lounge where you can enjoy a dip in its large outside pool whilst enjoying some light dishes and beverages. If you want to be more active then it also offers a gym, and after your workout, you can enjoy the hotel’s spa area. It is worth noting that the hotel isn’t just all play, if you need to work, it has dedicated gathering spaces for all your important business meetings.
Overall, 1 Hotel West Hollywood has created a glorious green space which is a must-stay experience if you find yourself in the area.
