Get ready to step back into 1880s London as Disney+’s gripping Victorian drama, A Thousand Blows, returns in January.

The original series was created by Peaky Blinders and House of Guinness writer Steven Knight.

Season one aired earlier this year. It followed the character Hezekiah Moscow (Malachi Kirby) as he is thrown into the seedy, violent world of illegal boxing in Victorian London, earning rave reviews.

During the story, Moscow meets Mary Carr (Erin Doherty), the leader of the notorious all-female gang The Forty Elephants, and faces the dangerous, seasoned boxer Sugar Goodson (Stephen Graham), with an intense rivalry ensuing.

Now, season two is set to return on January 9, streaming only on Disney+ and Hulu. BAFTA award winner Kirby returns as Hezekiah Moscow, reuniting with Emmy award winners Doherty and Graham.

Inspired by the true-life stories of a group of characters battling for survival in the brutal East End of London in the 1880s, the new season picks up one year on from the events of season one. Hezekiah is a shadow of the man he once was, while Sugar Goodson is estranged from his family and drinking himself to death.

Just as Wapping is about to sigh its last breath, Mary Carr bursts back into town with her loyal second, Alice Diamond, to reassemble her gang and reclaim her crown. As always, Mary has a plan—one which will involve all those she holds dearest. And this time, it’s riskier than ever.

Returning cast for season two also includes James Nelson-Joyce as Edward “Treacle” Goodson, Darci Shaw as Alice Diamond, Hannah Walters as Eliza Moody, Nadia Albina as Verity Ross, Morgan Hilaire as Esme Long, Jemma Carlton as Belle Downer, Caoilfhionn Dunne as Anne Glover, Jason Tobin as Mr. Lao, Susan Lynch as Jane Carr, Daniel Mays as William ‘Punch’ Lewis, Gary Lewis as Jack Mac, Aliyah Odoffin as Victoria Davies, and Robert Glenister as Indigo Jeremy.

Joining the ensemble cast for season two are Ned Dennehy as Bull Jeremy and Catherine McCormack as Sophie Lyons.
