Why lavender? Dr. Henry Cabrera was drawn to its numerous health benefits, including its ability to support low blood pressure and alleviate stress and insomnia. The farm produces oils, lotions, and candles from their bountiful harvests, which are carefully packaged and sold.
The farm is also home to a diverse array of animals, including rare camels, chickens, guinea hens, ducks, geese, a white peacock, alpacas, and a very alert llama who keep a protective watch over the property. A working beehive on the farm also produces the foundation for delicious lavender honey. Mini, a lovable spotted Great Dane, roams the grounds and is a beloved part of the experience for all visitors.
Guests can reserve a one-bedroom guest farm suite and enjoy a customized, lavender-inspired gourmet dinner prepared by a local chef.

“The response that I’ve got to what I’ve created has been more than anything I’ve ever imagined,” Dr. Cabrera said. “You can read many articles about the health benefits of lavender. It can help with blood pressure, stress relief and a lot of people use them for insomnia.”

Dr. Henry Cabrera recalls the humble beginnings of Lavender Waves Farm. “When I moved to the farm, it was just a field of hay,” he said. The transformation was no small feat. Dr. Cabrera spent countless hours running a tractor up and down to till the soil, turning what was once barren land into fertile ground.
“Then we had to plant all the seeds,” he explained. “As I was figuring out the design, it occurred to me to put a gazebo in the middle and have all the rows of lavender converge at the center. That’s exactly what we did.”
This thoughtful design not only enhances the farm’s aesthetic appeal but also creates a serene focal point where visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty and fragrance of the lavender. The gazebo has become a favorite spot for guests, offering a picturesque setting for relaxation, contemplation, and even special events like weddings and photo shoots.

“One of the most frequent questions I get is why did I pick lavender,” said Dr. Henry Cabrera. “I get that question all the time. Lavender is an incredible crop. It’s perennial, so it comes back every year. So I did this once, and now I will have lavender here for many years. These plants should live for about 10-15 years.”
Although Dr. Cabrera stays busy maintaining his farm and working as a doctor, he says it’s all worth it.
“The first question I always get is, ‘How do I do it all?'” he said. “This is not something that I created on my own. To do it, I’ve had to hire people from the very beginning. I’ve had my family here, and teamwork has been important.”
