How to Make Money With Meme Coins in 2026: Copy a Winning Wallet, Buy Under $200K, Exit at 4x on Banana Gun

No method guarantees money on meme coins, but the useful version is a three-part system: copy a wallet that is green over its last 30 days, let copies fire only under $200K market cap, and sell 80% at 4x with the rest on a trailing stop. Banana Gun runs all three from Telegram.

Every market figure below is dated and sourced. Fomo profile totals are all-time figures from 30 September 2026. GMGN and CoinGecko figures were pulled on 8 October 2026.

The 4x and the 80% are settings you choose, not results you should expect. The background is in how Telegram trading bots work.

Why do most people lose money on meme coins?

Three habits cost traders money: holding with no exit, buying a coin too big to multiply, and copying a wallet whose good run has ended.

The second shows in CoinGecko’s Solana Meme category on 8 October 2026: 6 of the 7 largest Solana meme coins were down over 7 days, and BOOK OF MEME was the only one up. TRUMP was down 11.8%, USELESS 21.2%.

Size is the other problem. BONK, at $288M market cap on that day, needs about $1.15B to reach 4x. That takes a flood of new money.

Meme coins also trade outside Solana: on Robinhood Chain they are quoted against Robinhood stock tokens such as NVDA and TSLA, and Banana Gun trades those pairs.

The third habit comes down to the number you look at. Fomo’s profile totals are all-time, and an all-time total says nothing about this month.

Part 1: copy a wallet that is winning now

Fomo, a self-custodial social trading app, publishes each trader’s followers, trade count and PnL. Fomo Wallet Finder (fomowalletfinder.com) turns a profile into the Solana address you need, free and with no signup.

Setting it up takes one menu. Open the Telegram trading bot, type /copytrade, tap “New Copy Trade”, paste the address and switch it from “Inactive” to “Active”.

Then check the last 30 days on gmgn.ai before you copy anything. The all-time figure and the recent one can point in opposite directions.

  1. frank (@frankdegods): $3.5M all-time Fomo PnL (30 Sep 2026), 280K followers. On GMGN, 8 Oct 2026: +$863,301 realized over 30 days, +$291,059 over 7 days. Solana address 498g1rVnFcnjBjpfw1xyqA1WvgQXUU8RWuELjxkjAayQ
  2. TheSolstice (@The__Solstice): $7.2M all-time. On GMGN, 8 Oct 2026: +$195,722 over 30 days. Solana address 4ugDhHJ8XDXAeABmrNmGffFaLbJb9BkPyiFGVSV9ocwo
  3. point farm capital (@pointfarmcap): $10M all-time, the second biggest on the list. On GMGN, 8 Oct 2026: -$303,240 over 30 days. Solana address Beqv6dzTcjV2eodo8RRXCiCcnSYrS1vkQKhfqwHXqeit

The biggest all-time PnL of the three belongs to the only one that lost money this month. That is why the 30-day check comes first.

Part 2: why buy under $200K market cap?

Multiples live in small caps. A token at $150K market cap needs $600K for 4x. A token at $5M needs $20M.

In the copy trade settings, “Max Market Cap” does the filtering. Set it to $200K and any copied buy above that level is skipped.

Pair it with “Buy Fixed” so every copy is the same size, say 0.5 SOL. Add “Buy Only Once” so the wallet cannot pull you into the same token twice within 7 days.

Set a “Spending Limit” too. It caps the total per wallet, and trades above it fail.

The ceiling has a cost. It also skips the wallet’s winners that bought at a higher market cap, and you will never see those.

Part 3: how do you exit at 4x on a Telegram trading bot?

A copy trade follows the wallet’s entries. The exit needs its own rule, unless you let Copy Sells mirror the wallet.

In the copy trade menu, turn “Copy Sells” off and tap “Setup Limit Order”. Or paste the token’s contract into the chat and tap “Setup Sell Limit Order”.

Set “Tokens” to 80%, choose “Take Profit”, trigger on “Market Cap” or “Token Price”, and enter +300%. That is 4x. For the other multiples, +100% is 2x and +400% is 5x.

Here is the arithmetic.

You buy 0.5 SOL. At +300%, the order sells 80% and returns about 1.6 SOL before fees and slippage. The remaining 20% is worth about 0.4 SOL at that moment.

For the rest, “Trailing Stop Loss” is the setting that raises the trigger as the price makes new highs.

A take-profit that is never reached never sells, and “Stop Loss” is the other choice in that menu, so decide which risk you are covering.

What this system cannot fix

Copy fills land after the wallet’s own trade. On a fast move your price is worse, and the more people copy one wallet, the further behind you land.

Form also flips. TheSolstice realized +$195,722 over 30 days, while GMGN shows -$43,525 over the last 7 (8 Oct 2026). A copier who relied on the monthly number was following a wallet that realized a loss that week.

Pace matters too. point farm capital placed 21,179 buys in 30 days and lost $303,240. No human copy setup can follow that.

Then there is the idle case. Salem made 6 buys in 30 days and none in the last 7, so a copy trade on it would have sat unused all week.

A ceiling plus a 4x target only pays if a token gets there, and most small caps never reach 4x.

Pause a copy trade by toggling it back to “Inactive” the day a wallet’s recent numbers turn. Check GMGN weekly, because a name’s all-time PnL will not warn you.
