Is Potenza RF Worth the Hype? I Tried It at 111 Harley St. to Find Out

I visited 111 Harley St. for Potenza RF Microneedling. Here’s how it felt, what it did for my skin, and why I’m planning my next treatment.

111 Harley St. is one of London’s most recognisable aesthetic clinics; Founded by globally renowned plastic surgeon Dr Yannis Alexandrides. Known not just for his surgical precision but also as the creator of famous skincare brand 111SKIN, Dr Alexandrides has built a reputation rooted in medical science, innovation, and natural results. The clinic attracts a loyal international clientele, from beauty editors and celebrities to patients flying in from abroad for expert-led, results-driven treatments. Whether you’re after subtle tweakments or a more transformative approach, 111 Harley Street is known for combining a personalised ethos with serious clinical credibility.

I was recently invited to 111 Harley St. to experience one of their treatment and as always with new clinics, I went in with a mix of curiosity and caution. As soon as I walked in, I felt reassured. Despite the street’s reputation, there are plenty of clinics on Harley Street that feel more hype than substance and trusting someone with your face is a big deal. This one felt different; stylish without being clinical, calm but not cold. Everything seemed thoughtfully put together.

After checking in, I was seen almost straight away by Anna, the clinic’s Senior Patient Coordinator, who took me into a consultation room to talk through my skin concerns.

The consultation felt more like a relaxed but informed chat rather than a hard sell, which, unfortunately, is not always the case at high-end clinics. I went in with a few broad goals: improving skin texture, tackling uneven tone, and doing something about the fine lines and pigmentation that seem to appear overnight once you hit your 30s. Anna used a high-tech skin scanner to get a better look at what was going on beneath the surface. Since melasma and pigmentation are best tackled in the colder months, we decided on Potenza RF Microneedling as the best treatment for now.

Potenza is a next-generation radiofrequency (RF) microneedling treatment that uses ultrafine needles and radiofrequency energy to target the deeper layers of skin. It’s designed to stimulate collagen and elastin production, which makes it perfect for treating everything from acne scars, enlarged pores, and fine lines to mild skin laxity and dullness.

What sets Potenza apart from traditional microneedling is the added RF energy, this penetrates deeper and delivers more controlled heating to the skin, which not only improves results but also reduces the overall number of sessions you might need. The treatment can be tailored based on your skin type, concern, and sensitivity level, making it suitable for a broad range of people and concerns.

As I covered in a previous piece for 1883, energy-based devices like this are becoming the gold standard for skin rejuvenation, especially for people who want visible, long-term results without going under the knife.

Once we’d agreed on the plan, I was taken to the treatment room where Sofia, my aesthetician applied numbing cream and gave me time to relax. I popped in my headphones and zoned out with a podcast. About 60 minutes later, we got started.

The treatment itself was totally manageable, a bit of heat and a prickling sensation in places; was a bit more uncomfortable on the forehead, where the bone sits closer to the surface, but nothing unbearable. Sofia talked me through every step, which made the whole thing feel much less intimidating.

Afterwards, my face was quite red (as expected), so Sofia applied a cooling sheet mask from 111SKIN, their in-house brand to help calm things down. By the time I got home, I had a follow-up email with all the aftercare details, which I really appreciated.

My skin was back to normal in about two days, and two weeks on, I was already noticing tighter skin, better texture, and a general glow I hadn’t seen in a while. And that’s after just one session.

For longer-lasting results, they recommend a course of three to four treatments spaced a few weeks apart. Prices start at £595 per session, which definitely puts it in the ‘investment’ category, but the quality of care and tech makes it feel justified.

It’s not suitable for everyone; if you have active acne, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have certain skin conditions, it’s best to hold off, but that’s why the consultation is so important.

There’s no shortage of aesthetic clinics in London, especially around Harley Street, but not all of them live up to the hype. 111 Harley St. feels like one of the few that actually does. The treatment was professional, the results were noticeable, and the whole process, from consultation to aftercare, felt well thought out and reassuring. I’m already planning to go back in the autumn to start one of their laser treatments for melasma, something we held off on for now to avoid sun exposure.

If you’re thinking about trying an aesthetic treatment, whether you’re new to it or just looking for a clinic that really knows what they’re doing, 111 Harley St. is absolutely worth a visit.
