In February 2026, the group exhibition Inside the Art Matrices, produced by the international art platform Arklink and co-curated with the Happy Matrix curatorial team, opened at Indra Gallery in London’s Old Street art district. As part of Arklink’s ongoing curatorial programme in London, the exhibition introduces the concept of the “matrix” as its curatorial methodology. Through the interplay between spatial structure and audience behaviour, the exhibition creates a continuously evolving artistic environment, drawing immediate attention from the London art scene on its opening night.
Opening on 22 February, the exhibition brings together twenty artists from across the globe. Working across painting, installation and moving image, the exhibition constructs a multidimensional field of intersecting artistic perspectives. Participating artists include Atupei, Bailiang Chen, Chengming Xing, Fanbo Meng, Haoxin Liang, Jes Chen, Jie Shuai, Jin Xie, Jinrui Liao, Yahan Wu, Yanjie Gao, Yao Zhang, Yicheng Liang, Yifu Ruan, Yuanshen Yang, Yuan Xu, Yujun Lu, Zexuan Zeng, Zhan Shu and Zeus Li.

Rather than organising works by theme or style, Inside the Art Matrices adopts structure as its curatorial logic. The exhibition space is articulated through four interwoven perceptual dimensions: Aesthetics, Meaning, Attraction and Creativity. This framework does not impose a hierarchy of artistic value. Instead, it offers multiple points of entry into the exhibition, allowing visitors to form their own viewing paths based on personal experience and curiosity.
The opening evening brought together artists, curators, collectors and professionals from across the creative industries. Throughout its run, the exhibition continued to attract attention and discussion, quickly becoming one of the most talked-about experimental projects within London’s emerging young art scene this season.

The notion of the “matrix” originates from mathematical models of spatial transformation. In the exhibition, the concept is reinterpreted as a framework for organising artistic experience. By dismantling linear narratives and singular viewing routes, the curatorial team shifts the viewer’s role from passive observer to active participant. As visitors move through the exhibition — pausing, choosing and navigating different paths — the structure of the matrix continually reshapes the exhibition itself. Its final form emerges collectively through acts of viewing.

As an international platform active between London and the broader global art network, Arklink continues to explore how contemporary art can circulate and be experienced within cross-cultural contexts. The exhibition also reflects Arklink’s ongoing interest in treating exhibitions as systems of design. Through a carefully constructed spatial framework, Inside the Art Matrices reconsiders how artistic experience is produced, shared and consumed.
Within its rational spatial structure, the exhibition balances order with openness. While the matrix establishes a clear framework, it also leaves space for uncertainty and interpretation. As visitors navigate the exhibition along different routes, the experience continually shifts; viewing itself becomes a creative act. As the curatorial team notes, the exhibition does not attempt to offer a single conclusion, but instead proposes an open structure in which multiple interpretations can coexist.
