Joji has released a new single, Last of a Dying Breed, following an unconventional teaser campaign that began in December 2025, when fans received a mysterious floppy disk in the post.
The track opens with a sparse, haunting chord progression before building into propulsive, syncopated beats, underscored by Joji’s soft, wordless vocal hums. Rooted in his signature gritty production style, the song unfolds into a lo-fi, orchestral soundscape that balances melancholy with an unexpected sense of momentum.
Last of a Dying Breed is the latest release in the run-up to Joji’s forthcoming album, Piss In The Wind, due out on 6 February 2026 via Palace Creek. The project follows a steady stream of recent singles, including Love You Less, Past Won’t Leave My Bed, If It Only Gets Better and Pixelated Kisses, which also received a remix from Yeat.
Pixelated Kisses marked Joji’s return from a multi-year musical hiatus and quickly gained traction on release, generating tens of millions of global streams within hours. The track debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 and later secured placements across the Billboard 200 and Pop charts.
According to early releases, Piss In The Wind bridges Joji’s earlier lo-fi work with a more expansive and atmospheric production style. If It Only Gets Better leans heavily into that balance, pairing acoustic guitar and syncopated bass with layered harmonies. The song is accompanied by a video directed by James Mao, which references Joji’s BALLADS 1 breakthrough Yeah Right, contrasting frenetic, club-style visuals with pared-back, introspective lyrics.
