Belgian DJ and producer Lost Frequencies is continuing to innovate within pop and dance music. You may know his number one hit single ‘Are You With Me’ and the BRIT Award-nominated ‘Where Are You Now’, but the artist’s catalogue also includes collaborations with The Temper Trap, Tom Odell, and Clementine Douglas. With 21 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, the DJ has become well-known for thrilling live sets following spots at Lollapalooza and Tomorrowland, to name but a few.

At the end of last month, Lost Frequencies performed two rare headline shows in the UK at Manchester’s Albert Hall and London’s renowned venue, Brixton Academy.

For this On Tour With feature, Lost Frequencies shares a glimpse into his life on tour and moments from the two shows.

I always love returning to the UK, and coming back to Manchester in the North was something I’d anticipated for a while! Despite it being so cold, it was a quick hotel pit-stop and then straight onto press! I always enjoy meeting journalists, writers and radio hosts as each outlet or interviewer will come to me with something different, being able to share my story or the influences and ideas behind my music is always a cool part of what I do!

No matter where I go in the world–both for business or pleasure–I always like to eat my way through a city and try where is cool and I’d heard that Rudy’s was one of the best places for Pizza! I really like the Neopolitan style and it’s hard to get such a good one out of Italy, so I could see why the tour team loved it! Lots of carbs are needed for the show, and of course, pepperoni and some drinks always help.

This is me during soundcheck at Albert Hall! I didn’t expect the venue to be such an amazing layout in person. It’s a really cool converted church space that is now a live music venue, but has this real communal and uniting atmosphere that isn’t common, but so amazing to play in.

The fans view from the pews! The venue has almost this round, tiered seating where audiences can see the stage no matter where they are enjoying the show which I really liked, it felt like playing right at the hub of the location that was surrounded by all this history with these sort of stained glass windows, which I think is a nod to its history, and sort of gothic details – only soundtracked by me for the night!

After a great headline show the night before, it’s onwards to London! London is one of my favourite cities to visit anywhere in the world, I love how it is so diverse, multi-cultural and a real hub for all things creative – but first, coffee was needed!

Before I headed over to Brixton, we decided on sushi for dinner, and I heard that Namaiki in Soho was some of the best in the city! I’ve had sushi in Tokyo, and this was honestly on the same level thanks to the brilliant chef Daichi, who makes the omakase as seasonal as possible. Perfect pre-show fuel!

My team and I worked with Hydra Design who are a really cool creative company based in a few different city hubs but with one in London, so it felt fitting to really showcase those on the Brixton Academy stage! I always like my music to stay unifying and bring a positive message that allows audiences to really lose themselves in the message that goes alongside a live set.

I love seeing signs and posters from the fans, it is a crazy feeling looking out to a crowd of so many people and having their messages catch me eye! More signs at shows please!

Over and out until next time, UK! Thanks for showing me a good time and always supporting, I hope to come back super soon and perform for you guys again!
