In a world that often feels disposable, where fear of feeling and the refusal to go too deep seem to prevail, emerging singer-songwriter Sophie West has chosen to take the opposite route and go all in with “Long Time Coming,” a heartfelt, profound, delicate, and ambitious EP that moves away from trends and returns to its roots.

Three songs and just over 15 minutes are enough to stir nostalgia through acoustic guitars, intense piano melodies, poetic yet simple lyrics, and a complex, almost theatrical soul that emerges in this perfect trilogy.
The journey opens with “Outrun My Mind,” a track that at times recalls Amy Lee of Evanescence and, in fleeting moments, echoes Shania Twain at her most vulnerable. The result is a dramatic yet gentle song, like a sigh turned melody.
A painful but necessary goodbye arrives in the form of “Just Once More,” the second track on the EP. Led by raw, organic guitar and a Lo-Fi–style band arrangement, the song feels intimate, like a private concert in a living room, with wooden floors, cables, cigarettes, and Persian rugs scattered around.
“Note to Self,” the longest and most reflective piece, closes Sophie West’s work on a high note. Built around a powerful piano and a string trio, it plays like a life manifesto, an urgent reminder of what truly matters.
Based in Denver, Sophie West moves forward with the calm confidence of someone unafraid to be vulnerable. Her voice, soft, strong, and honest, carries the essence of her journey, one that began when she left stability behind to rediscover herself among roads, cold nights, and a handful of songs.
Her musical story began in the San Francisco Bay Area, surrounded by her mother’s vinyl collection of soul, folk, and blues records. From that moment, she knew music would be her language. By the time she graduated high school, she was already performing on well-known stages in her hometown, and over the years, her voice became a connecting thread between musical phases, from funk to psychedelic rock and from soul to Americana.
All those life chapters converge in “Long Time Coming,” her most honest introduction yet. “Music and songwriting have always been my way of processing emotions and life experiences, so this project has been really healing for me,” Sophie confides.

Her music doesn’t strive for perfection but for truth. It’s an invitation to pause, breathe, and remember that art can also heal.
The EP functions as an emotional trilogy, where each track represents a station on her inner journey. “It wasn’t necessarily intentional, but ‘Long Time Coming’ ended up being a pretty concise story arc of that period of my life,” she shared.
With a sound that fuses the sensitivity of folk with the power of blues, Sophie West achieves something rare, delivering three songs that tell a complete story.
“Long Time Coming” not only marks the beginning of her recording career but also the symbolic closing of a cycle. It’s the culmination of years of searching, doubt, and reconciliation, but above all, a testament to her faith in the transformative power of music.
