Offering up a slice of luxury with plenty of golden sand and blue sea, The Diplomat Beach Resort is a must-stay in Hollywood, Florida. Part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, the hotel is a 30-minute drive north of Miami and combines ocean views with sleek architectural design. If you’re looking for a premium holiday spot, then it truly delivers thanks to its wide range of amenities. If you’re a sun worshiper, there’s 1,000 linear feet of semi-private beach, an oceanfront pool with private cabanas, and a whole host of sunbathing options. For the foodies, there are multiple dining experiences for breakfast, lunch, and dinner within the hotel. If you require a place to recharge your batteries, then there’s a 15,000sq ft full-service spa and salon. If you’re looking to challenge yourself then there are water sports, bicycles, and a gym which comes part of your stay.
Before you even get to your room, the lobby itself is a magnificent work of art, a huge open space with sculptures, greenery, and the right amount of natural lighting. For 1883’s two-night stay, I enjoyed a Double Bed Oceanfront Balcony Guestroom. Covering 381sq ft, the room comes with two comfortable double beds, a 55′ HDTV, and a gorgeous ensuite bathroom with shower and soaking tub. There were many nice little touches during the stay, such as a ‘welcome’ bottle of prosecco. Undoubtedly, the crowning jewel of the room is the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and beach from your private balcony. No matter if it’s day or night, there’s something truly exceptional about the view. If you’re worried about hearing the waves from your room, once the patio doors are closed, it’s so quiet you’ll be able to get a good night’s sleep with ease.

Getting to the beach amenities, there’s the Verandah Social Club, an outdoor space which boasts poolside cabanas, stylish furniture, and an adults-only VIP area. It offers a heightened and elegant experience. If you don’t want to dip your toes in the ocean, then there’s the private new infinity pool to keep you cool in the heat. But for 1883 Magazine’s stay, I wanted to feel the sand between my toes and ventured onto the beach to utilise one of the hotel’s sunbeds. If you require, there is a concierge service that can bring you drinks and food for a fee of course. As a semi-private beach, it wasn’t overly busy, and it truly felt like you had a small slice of paradise.
Now, for the foodies, the breakfast at Palmea Kitchen is delicious. You can start your day right with a generous breakfast buffet which offers up local produce, Mediterranean flavours, and American classics. The Pièce de résistance at The Diplomat Beach Resort is its dinner spot – Diplomat Prime. The sophisticated steakhouse is a hotspot for Hollywood, and many come from outside the hotel to enjoy its food. Prices are more on the expensive side, but worth the high-quality food you receive. There’s a range of dishes on the menu from seafood platters, oysters, king crab, crab cakes, octopus, seared foie gras, chicken roulade, and smoked short rib, just to name a few examples.
There are numerous mouthwatering steaks on the menu, and prices range from $68 to a 38-oz prime dry-aged tomahawk at $210. My 12-oz Colorado lamb rack with truffle whipped potatoes went down a treat, especially when accompanied by a gorgeous homemade bread with butter-infused honey and Hawaiian red salt. You even get to pick from a selection of artisan steak knives before your main course arrives, so what’s not to love.

Overall, with its meticulous attention to detail and staff who consistently go above and beyond, The Diplomat Beach Resort stands out as an exceptional place to stay when planning a luxury getaway in the area.
A Double Bed Oceanfront Balcony Guestroom starts from $317 a night but is subject to availability.
