The pioneering Irish music group U2 have returned with a shimmering new single.
The band have shared the new track ‘Street of Dreams’ via Island Records today.
It’s lifted from Bono and co’s yet-to-be-announced new studio album, which will be their first full LP in nine years.
Produced by Jackknife Lee, ‘Street of Dreams’ is a glorious return to form for the band with slick vocals, atmospheric sonics, The Edge’s signature guitar style, and hopeful lyricism.
The accompanying ‘Street of Dreams’ music video was shot in Mexico City last May, where the band attended the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals tournament at Parque Ecológico Lago de Texcoco.
The video shoot near Plaza Santo Domingo drew a huge crowd of fans despite the weather conditions, with thunder and rain unexpectedly causing a generator to crash and a local family welcoming the four band members into their apartment to film on the balcony.
In September, the band will celebrate 50 years since the band’s formation after Larry posted a handwritten note which read “drummer seeks musicians to form band” on the school noticeboard at Dublin’s Mount Temple Comprehensive.
The new U2 album is expected to be released later this year.
