What should you absolutely NOT do at prom?

Prom is a special night that many high school students look forward to for years. It’s a time to dress up, dance, and make memories with friends. However, it’s also important to remember that prom is a formal event, and there are certain things that should be avoided in order to have a great time and make the most of the occasion. Here are some things you should absolutely not do at prom.

Don’t arrive late

One of the most important things to remember is to arrive on time. Most proms have a strict schedule, and arriving late can cause you to miss important moments like the grand march or the crowning of the prom king and queen.

If you’re running late, call or text your date or friends to let them know, and make sure you have a plan to catch up with them as soon as you arrive.

Don’t drink or use drugs

Prom is a formal event, and drinking or using drugs is not only illegal but it’s also highly inappropriate. Not only can it lead to serious health issues but it can also lead to expulsion from school, criminal charges and even ruining your life.

Many schools have a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and drugs, and if you’re caught, you will be immediately removed from the event, and could face disciplinary action.

Don’t be disrespectful

Prom is a formal event and it’s important to remember to be respectful to everyone around you. This includes your date, friends, teachers, chaperones, and other guests.

Avoid any kind of bullying or harassment, and be mindful of your own behavior and language.

Don’t forget to have fun

While it’s important to be mindful of the rules and etiquette of prom, it’s also important to remember to have fun. Take the time to dance, take photos, and make memories with friends.

Don’t be too focused on perfection, enjoy the moments and the people around you, it’s not every day that you get to attend a prom.

Don’t ignore dress code

Most schools have a dress code for prom, and it’s important to follow it. This includes wearing appropriate prom suits for men and prom dresses for women, such as formal wear, and avoiding revealing or offensive attire.

Not following the dress code can result in being turned away at the door and missing the event, which is something you don’t want to happen

Don’t forget to be yourself

While prom can be a big deal and there’s a lot of pressure to fit in, it’s important to remember to be yourself. Don’t try to be someone you’re not, because it will be hard to enjoy the night.

Remember why you’re there and make the most of the night, don’t be too focused on impressing others, enjoy your time and make the most of it.

Prom is a special night that you will remember for years to come. By avoiding these common mistakes, you can ensure that you have a great time and make the most of the occasion. Remember to be respectful, follow the rules, and most importantly, have fun.
