The latest in new music from The Mysterines, Free Nationals, Audrey Nuna, Allie X & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.

On rotation this week is the world-dominating rock band, Kings of Leon. The group have returned with the effortlessly cool single, “Mustang”. It’s playful, energetic, and overall a very fine return to form which harks back to their first few records. KOL will release their new record Can We Please Have Fun on May 10 before heading out on a stadium UK tour in June and July. The Mysterines have shared the new single, “Stray”. It’s a fantastic slice of alt-rock lifted from the Liverpool band’s new LP, Afraid of Tomorrows, which lands June 7. Speaking about the song, the band’s frontperson Lia Metcalfe said “Stray” focuses on “the aimless and untamed nature of the polarities of behaviour that we experience when dealing with suffering.” Go check it out. The Free Nationals have dropped the stellar retro-soul tune, “Gangsta”. It’s the band’s first release since 2020 and features Anderson .Paak and A$AP Rocky. It’s seriously addictive. The inimitable artist and songwriter Audrey Nuna has released the new song, “Starving” featuring Teezo Touchdown. It’s full of lush vocals, electronic-tinged textures, and vibrant production. Expect to see more of this artist later this year, don’t sleep on her.

Elsewhere in the playlist, you can find a collaborative project called The Heart Racers. It’s comprised of the US solo artists Kanii, Riovaz, and Nimstarr. The group have released The Heart Racers EP and it features a chic pop song entitled “Diva”. Next up, Ghostly Kisses has shared the gorgeous song, “Keep It Real”. It has enthralling vocals and electronic production. Ghostly Kisses will release her sophomore record this May. Artist and producer Woahgetter has unveiled their debut single “I Can’t Love You Anymore”, it’s a decent avant-pop offering. The extremely talented hip-hop artist Seafood Sam has released the single, “Can’t Take The Hood To Heaven”. It boasts gorgeous vocals, slick flows, warm production, it’s seriously good. Keep an eye on this rising artist. Finally, LA-based songwriter and producer Allie X has shared the anthemic, “Weird World”. The vocals, synths, and 80s new wave-esque production are all on point.
