1883 On Rotation: WENDY, Frances Baker, Julia Pratt

The latest in new music from Home Counties, WENDY, Frances Baker, Julia Pratt & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.

On rotation this week is the new single from Home Counties. The six-piece band has released an effortlessly cool track entitled “You Break It, You Buy It” and it’s an energetic release which traverses indie, dance, and punk. It’s the latest taster of the band’s debut album Exactly As It Seems which drops May 3 via Submarine Cat Records. The talented pop star is feeling nostalgic and has released the tenth-anniversary reissue of her debut LP, No Mythologies To Follow. The artist may be well known for providing pristine vocals on the dance anthem “Lean On” but this is a great opportunity to dive into her earlier work if you haven’t had the chance. Red Velvet member WENDY is continuing to kick-off her solo career with the gorgeous new track, “Wish You Hell”. The K-Pop superstar is offering a pop-rock anthem when it comes to this solo offering and we’re here for it. It was co-written by Jesse Saint John and is taken from her new solo EP of the same name which is out now. Next up, the promising American artist Frances Baker has shared the first single from her debut record, Blossom. The track is called “Wait For It” and it boasts the most heavenly strings, lush vocals, and delicate production qualities. This Arlo Parks-endorsed artist is certainly one to watch.

Elsewhere in the playlist, you can find “Carolina” which is the new single from Julia Pratt. It’s an acoustic-led indie-folk tune with serene vocals. Thematically, the track explores Julia’s history and returning to someone, something, and someplace you used to love. “Carolina” is lifted from a forthcoming EP project. The Singer-songwriter and actor, Halle, has shared her first new track of the year with “In Your Hands”. It’s full of heartfelt, powerful vocals, piano, and layered production. Norwegian artist Aron Dahl has released an off-kilter pop song all about… BDSM. “Lock&Key” manages to combine catchy, experimental pop, 70s-esque instrumentals, tender vocals and explicit lyricism. Finally, one of the UK’s biggest contemporary rock bands, Nothing But Thieves, has shared the deluxe edition of Dead Club City. Make sure to check out the brilliant track, “Time :: Fate :: Karma :: God”.
