The latest in new music from Bea and her Business, aespa, LULU, Clairo & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.
On rotation this week is the brand-new release from rising songwriter Bea and her Business. The West London artist has just dropped her sophomore EP, Me Vs Me and it’s a six-track project full of lush vocals, pristine production and heartfelt, relatable lyricism. Check out our favourite, the utterly gorgeous EP opener, “Nightmare Being 19”. It’s a dramatic pop tune from the talented multi-instrumentalist. The globally recognised pop quartet, aespa, have shared the anticipated new single “Supernova”. The song is undoubtedly catchy, bold, and has grooving bass throughout. It treads a line between pop dance, hip-hop, electronica, and the result is infectious. You can catch our previous interview with the group by clicking here. Next up is the London-based artist TS Graye who’s shared the new single, “Mother’s Genes”. It’s a poignant homage to maternal love with captivating vocals, slick production, and introspective lyrics. “Mother’s Genes” is the first song to be lifted from Graye’s forthcoming new EP, All For Love. Singer, songwriter, pianist, and producer Yali Blank has shared her brand new track, “Nobody 2 Luv”. The song is full of distinctive vocals, and dynamic and layered production textures. Blank has delivered an inspired and playful electro-pop single with “Nobody 2 Luv”. Speaking about the track, Yali said: “It is about the journey of self-search and the moment of clarity when I realised that I don’t need anyone but myself.”
Elsewhere in the playlist, you can find Sila Lua’s effortlessly fun track “BRASIL” which takes elements of pop, electronica, hip-hop, and fuses them with her signature Latin sound. Make sure to keep an eye on this emerging artist. Singer-songwriter LULU has just released the new EP, Dear, Disorientated Soul via AMF Records. It’s full of incredible vocals, soulful melodies and tells a tale of self-reflection and growth. Make sure you listen to the sublime EP track, “Home”. Raveena is gearing up to share her new studio LP, Where the Butterflies Go in the Rain on June 14 via Empire. In the meantime, Raveena has shared the new tune, “Lucky”. It’s full of dulcet tones, serene vocals, delicate acoustic, and pop and R&B influences. The American Gen Z icon, Claire Cottrill AKA Clairo is back. Her third studio record, Charm, has just been announced and is due to land on July 12. Charm’s first single, entitled “Sexy to Someone” is a warm 70s-inspired indie-pop anthem. From start to finish everything about it is gorgeous and we cannot wait to see what the rest of the album is like. Swedish indie newcomer Linn Koch-Emmery has shared the incredible new sophomore album, Borderline Iconic. It details Linn’s experience of being diagnosed as bipolar as a teenager, medicated and then redefined as ADHD later in life. The record is ambitious, exciting, and highlights her raw talent. Listen to the record’s title track. Finally, indie veterans Maximo Park have shared the new tune, “Your Own Worst Enemy”.
