The latest in new music from Little Monarch, Xenia Manasseh, TIKHET, Paris Paloma & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.
On rotation this week is the multitalented producer, artist, and songwriter, Little Monarch. The artist has dropped an effortlessly cool disco-funk tune called “We Got That Feeling.” It’s full of shimmering production, slinky grooves, and serene vocals. “We Got That Feeling” is taken from Little Monarch’s debut album Plenty of Time which releases August 16. Xenia Manasseh has shared the R&B-inspired tune, “Phases”, lifted from her sophomore LP Love / Hate Pt.2. If you like introspective lyricism, and emotive, airy vocals, then this could be for you, she’s also just released a music video for it too. A future pop star in the making, Samira, is back and in her experimental dance era. The artist has released the drum and bass-influenced track, “See Through You”. Thematically, the song came about after observing a string of messy nights out and dark comedowns. American rapper Big Sean is back with the new tune, “Yes”. It’s a high-energy track with a slick flow and pristine production.
Elsewhere in the playlist, German DJ and producer Sepalot, and songwriter and poet, Angela Aux, have teamed-up for a new musical project called TIKHET. The duo’s debut single “Smoke Rings” is out now. It’s uplifting and full of psychedelic rock and 90s influences. Keep an eye on this emerging act. October And The Eyes has released her new EP, Certificate of Participation. The focus track “Rubber Gloves” is a thrilling concoction of post-punk, psych, grunge, glam, and alt influences. Paris Paloma has shared the powerful new single, “The Warmth”. It’s a cinematic offering from the in-demand songwriter, with captivating vocals, unfurling harmonies, and dramatic production qualities. Her debut record Cacophony lands August 30 via Nettwerk. Finally, last but not least, Motorcycle Display Team, the group have released the sublime single, “Not Raving, but Frowning”. It’s a perfect example that highlights the group’s talent for crafting emotive, narrative-driven tracks. There are swirling vocals, keys, strings, and much more. It’s the climatic second half of a two-track release under the name “Heartbeaten”. Thematically, the song is a portrait of a self-indulgent fool. Go check it out.
