The latest in new music from Little Simz, Estelle, Only The Poets, Alex Porat & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.
On rotation this week is the brand-new single from rapper Little Simz. “Flood” is a bold and incredible single with thunderous drums, piercing lyricism and stellar features from Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly. It’s the lead track from Simz’s sixth studio album Lotus which releases on May 9 via AWAL Recordings.
The Grammy-award-winning American artist Estelle is back with the hypnotic track “Love On Love”. It’s a perfect slice of soul and pop with gorgeous vocals. Thematically, it reflects on global protests and has an urgent message that love is the only force capable of driving out darkness. A new album will come later this year.
Only The Poets have shared the shining alt-pop track “I Keep On Messing It Up”, the first song since last year’s Better On The Internet EP. It’s a melodic earworm about a period of self-reflection following a recent break-up.
Rising singer-songwriter Taylor Noelle continues to go from strength to strength with the release of the new track, “Loser”. There’s a slow-burning drumbeat, flawless vocals, vibrant production, and so much more. Keep an eye on this Nashville-based artist.
Emma Bradley has shared the devastatingly beautiful song “serotonin skies”. There’s delicate acoustic guitar, haunting layers of production, cello, stunning vocals, and emotive lyricism. It’s a song where Bradley not only flexes her musical talent but skills as a producer.
Musician and actor Joe Keery is back as Djo with the grooving and serene-sounding indie tune, “Delete Ya”. His new album, The Crux sees Djo tell narrative-driven stories through a cast of characters. The album is out April 4.
Toronto’s Alex Porat has released the exhilarating alt-pop tune, “Face Like Yours”. It’s a tongue-in-cheek track about a situationship gone wrong. She said: “It’s about realising that the energy you’re putting into someone isn’t being met and that they can’t, or don’t care to, do better”. Her forthcoming EP crushed! lands on June 27.
Finally, Teether & Kuya Neil have teamed up for the dance-worthy track, “BLUSH”, the second track to be taken from their collaborative album YEARN IV which lands on May 2. Check the song out for intoxicating garage and experimental hip-hop soundscapes.
