1883 On Rotation: the Being Dead Playlist Takeover

Being Dead have taken over this week's playlist.

American rockers Being Dead are back with their new album, EELS. The Austin, Texas-based band have already been creating a stir thanks to their infectious blend of chaotic punk-rock. 1883 previously caught up with the group for their debut LP When Horses Would Run, which you can read by clicking here. Now, the band are back with this second body of work, which continues to see them grow sonically.

To celebrate the release of their new record EELS, Being Dead have curated an exclusive playlist full of songs they adore.

“DC-10” – Kleenex

Always ready for good ole’ punk no-filler hard-ass song writing. This band is so infectious and inspiring how could you not fall in love. Hard to choose one song but at the moment, this is the top.

“Cows” – Silicone Prairie

Talk about some great production and beautiful songwriting on display here! This album has a great feel and an even better touch — on our tender hearts. The vocal performance is so fun – it’s hard not to sing along.

“Idiotic” – X-Cetra

This whole album is really really good so it’s hard to choose but this one just hits the nail on the head lyrically: “but if you had a key to my heart you would rip it apart because a heart is a delicate thing” — absolutely stunning.

“Bone Dry” – Blood

These boys really know how to rip and their latest / debut album is just excellent and their live set is something to witness. We’re always absolutely captivated by the performance. The tones are gritty-delicious and we live for the pain.

“147 Ways To Say Howdy” – HONK

Country punk is already a treat — but sprinkle in a British accent and some fun-lovin’ freaks and now we’ve got a real party going.

“Memory is far away” – Les Rallizes Dénudés

We love getting completely zone-stoned and listening to feedback and tape hiss. This is the ultimate pleasure for us.

“Sterile Century” – R.M.F.C

Their tones are unmatched. The guitar work is just so darn delicious — masterfully playful licks. The energy is speed.

“In Canada” – B.J. Snowden

Those who fear bass, you are home… but if you deny this hook, you should leave. BJ is the best in the biz, a real outsider that don’t take no shit. This song goes hard as fuck though.

“Anything Could Happen” – The Clean

The kind of song that makes you smile. The sounds are pretty.

“I Want a Snake” – Awesome Snakes

This song is hard as frick! Snakes are not dissimilar from eels – so naturally, we love snakes and how awesome they are. This song is nasty and has great spirit.

Being Dead’s sophomore record Eels is out now.
