PREMIERE: Leonie Persch Unveils “Here’s Your Proof,” a HIMA-Nominated Single Built on Proof of Self

Leonie Persch has spent the better part of a decade writing songs for other people’s voices. Today, September 4, she releases one written entirely for her own.

“Here’s Your Proof” arrives as Persch’s latest solo single and her fourth Hollywood Independent Music Award nomination, this time in the Best Original Song category. The New York-based alternative-pop artist has built a short but pointed independent catalog. Her first two releases already earned three HIMA nominations across Best Female Vocal, Best Original Song, and Best Original Recording, a run that places her alongside past HIMA nominees and honorees including Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, and Diane Warren.

The single was produced by Jacob Munk, whose work has crossed two billion global streams on records for Miley Cyrus, Liam Gallagher, and Caroline Polachek, and mixed by Jeremie Inhaber, the engineer behind Meghan Trainor’s “Made You Look.” Mastering came from Grammy-winning engineer Nathan Dantzler, whose recent credits include Sabrina Carpenter, Teddy Swims, and Madison Beer. It is the kind of lineup most emerging artists spend years trying to reach, and Persch built it while still self-releasing.

That independence is the throughline of her story. Before stepping into her own spotlight, Persch worked for more than six years as a full-time songwriter and vocalist, placing songs with artists across Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, Disney, and Martin Garrix’s STMPD label. In 2025, a collaboration she co-wrote and performed with Afrojack played at Ultra Music Festival. Her name has been behind the music long before it was in front of it.

When she released her debut single “Blindfolded,” co-produced by Grammy-nominated producer Riley Urick and mixed by Simon Jay, musical director for Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, she described it as one of the most freeing and frightening moments of her career. “It felt like the first time I was sharing music that genuinely reflected who I was as an artist,” she said. “Here’s Your Proof” continues that reflection, another entry in a body of work concerned with identity, introspection, and the long work of emotional resilience.

Persch writes from a genuine curiosity about psychology and human behavior, aiming for songs that hold their shape well past the moment they were written. That same instinct toward community shows up off record. She is the founder of Indie Table, a Los Angeles and New York gathering space for independent artists, songwriters, producers, and industry professionals, built around dinners, interviews, and conversations that treat the creative career as the real and difficult thing it is. She has also served as a vocal judge for organizations including Youth Creating Change’s Hope & Justice competition, which gives young people a platform to express personal experience through music and art with a focus on mental health.
