COOKIIE is taking the world by storm. The UK rapper (and hat designer) just performed to a sold-out crowd at her debut launch party in Hoxton and she’s already growing tenfold with the release of her new single, “Cookiie Jar,” premiering today on 1883.
Cookiie, also known as Cookiie With A Double I, is a bonafide star in the UK rap scene. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in London, her multicultural upbringing and influences from artists like Erykah Badu, Aaliyah, Mc Lyte, Missy Elliott, and Queen Latifah have shaped her distinctive style, blending R&B, Afro, and rap with vibrant, effervescent enthusiasm. And now, with the release of “Cookiie Jar,” she shows a new side to herself as an artist.
The track was written by Cookiie and long-time collaborator Gachi, produced by Christopher Mandivenga, and engineered by WhoisKi. Serving as another empowering anthem encouraging women to recognize their power and worth, the track’s visuals were filmed in Texas and features Gachi, paying respect and homage to Houston rapper Slim Thug with the lyrics “Flew to Texas (Slim Thugga) Imaa Boss.”
Cookiie first made waves with her independent single “Drip Walk” in 2019 and followed up with three singles in 2023, including “Fashion,” “Breakdown,” and “Too Much Money.” The latter gained significant attention in the US, attracting Grammy Award-winning producer BabyFace and 90s R&B legend Joe Thomas, and racked up 14,000 streams without promotional support. With a solid foundation in the US, Cookiie has collaborated with top producers and industry figures, including video director Bpace, known for working with Mulatto, YFN Lucci, Young Thug, Jacquees, and Future.
With a clear knack for spinning catchy hooks with undeniable lyricmsm, Cookiie is an artist everyone should keep their eyes on — especially as her debut EP is anticipated to be released later this fall.
