French singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Felix Antonio has arrived at a new chapter with Felix Antonio & The Sea, a seven-track EP that finds him turning inward while expanding his sonic world.
Born in Normandy in 2001, Antonio’s musical education began early, from joining a choir at five to learning clarinet and piano before discovering the guitar as a teenager. His years in indie-pop band Silk Skin Lovers — who went on to rack up millions of streams worldwide — gave him a foundation in songwriting, production and performance before he stepped into his solo career.
Following his 2024 EP Simpler Times, Antonio’s latest release feels like a more fully realised expression of the artist he is becoming. Across its seven tracks, Felix Antonio & The Sea moves through vulnerability, dependency, loss, renewal and the search for freedom, with the sea acting as a recurring metaphor for escape and starting again.
Sonically, Antonio sits somewhere between intimate folk songwriting and expansive contemporary indie, drawing on the warmth of acoustic instrumentation while embracing layered, atmospheric production. There are echoes of Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens, James Blake and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, but the result remains distinctly his own.
From the reflective aftermath of sobriety on “it’s over, i’m sober” to the sunlit nostalgia of “Rollin Down The Road”, the EP captures an artist learning to let go without losing sight of what comes next.
With Felix Antonio & The Sea now out in the world, Antonio takes us track by track through a deeply personal record about leaving the past behind — and discovering what waits on the other side.
questions
This track is about all the questions I never asked a person who I considered one of my best friends, and realizing after the relationship ended that these questions would never be answered. It’s about the regret of not having made the most of the moments we spent together to connect deeply, to share our burdens, and the excessive emotional reserve that can exist between men.
it’s over, i’m sober
It’s funny because at first I wanted this song to be about my relationship with partying and alcohol, which I actually quit drinking for a while at some point in my life. But while writing the first words of it, I realized they could just as well be about a relationship that had ended in my life, which was fun but a bit toxic and addictive, just like alcohol can be.
So in the end, this song is about finding closure, about finally being happy alone, and writing it really helped me move on. It also ended up being the central theme of the EP.
Waiting for the Sun to Rise
This track is about someone doing everything they can to help a loved one through a difficult time. I love the idea that one of the most beautiful things we can do in life is to look after one another. I tried to make this song a true folk anthem calling for optimism and compassion.

I wrote this very intimate song thinking about a time in my life when I was very distant from my family, when I would party a lot to try and escape some things. But it’s also about the moment when I found sufficient peace of mind to reconnect with a part of myself, and therefore with my family. It evokes emotional exhaustion, loneliness, addiction, family, and the sense of calm found while travelling by train.
when you’re leaving
I wrote this song about a time in my life when I felt emotionally fragile and dependent. It’s very dark but very soft at the same time. It’s definitely about a toxic trait within a relationship, but there’s no sense of judgment, and I still tried to capture the beauty that can exist in it.
The Sea
After sinking into dark emotions, I tried to make this instrumental interlude feel like a return to the surface, a reminder of the beautiful things in life. Like a ray of sunshine after a cloud. The sea is, for me, enveloping and gentle, and offers a sense of resolution.
I tried to make it a continuation of the song « it’s over, i’m sober », using the same chord progression and melodies. It was an opportunity for me to create a real sense of storytelling throughout the EP. I’ve even released an exclusive version of both songs combined on YouTube, with a beautiful music video we shot in Corsica.
Rolling Down the Road
This track is my happy folk song. I needed one! It evokes a holiday memory, that of a romantic encounter, a summer romance. It also evokes the promise of a life spent together. Straddling the past and the future, nostalgia and wonder, I really tried to write a folk song that makes you want to set off on a road trip surrounded by the people you love. And it was for me the perfect way to end this EP, above the surface and beneath the sun.
