Marcus McCoan – Single Review – Try Me

Marcus McCoan takes a step into the spotlight with his new single Try Me flexing his ability to switch flawlessly between songwriter and artist.

Though he is only just beginning, Marcus McCoan is already a musical force of nature. After a whirlwind tour with Natalie Imbruglia, it isn’t hard to see why the songwriter now turned artist has chosen to follow this new, winding path. Having written hits for the likes of Korean powerhouse BTS, it makes sense to leap into the spotlight and showcase what he has to offer. The Cornish musician is making bold moves and carving out a space for himself in the music industry with his alluring sound. A cross between The Weekend and The 1975, McCoan’s distinct musical flare is a true treat for any audiophile.

Try Me is a song about vying for the trust of someone you’re pining for. Asking them to take a chance, even though they’ve been hurt before. McCoan’s breathtaking vocals are hauntingly and beautifully captivating, coupled with the seductive sound of synth. The lyrics “Don’t be scared I know they’ve hurt you before/I’m only here to give you all of my love/So why don’t you try me?” Really drives home offering your trust and hand to someone who may be wary of letting themselves be vulnerable. The yearning for someone who isn’t quite ready to take that step. The pining is palpable, and McCown does an amazing job of making you feel that everlasting twinge of heartache.

Try Me is an outstanding piece of work. McCoan has only given us a crumb of what’s to come, a tantalizing taster for what’s next. A further two singles Phase Me and Chemical are slated for release early next year. It’s an exciting time for the emerging singer as he takes the reigns of what looks to be a very promising career.
