On Tour With Chinchilla

The in-demand artist Chinchilla is on her way to becoming a global sensation. In 2024, her “Little Girl Gone” single topped the Billboard’s Emerging Artist charts and it has gone onto amass 190million global streams so far. Thanks to her unique alt-sound, the artist has already earned a steadily growing fanbase.

Last month, Chinchilla supported G Flip on a UK tour and has exclusively penned a diary for 1883 Magazine.

For this edition of On Tour With, Chinchilla shares a few snaps and details on playing in London, Manchester, Cardiff, and Glasgow.

London

“Me, my manager Reva Gauntlett, and my stylist Keko Hainswheeler (along with Holly Wood). This was before the London Brixton O2 Academy, a home show, so Keko came specially to dress me. I love London shows because it’s where I’m from – which means it’s always a social and we always have the best night afterwards.”

“Backstage in London, Brixton academy. I had just got off the tour bus and showered, the showers were cold, the towels were teeny, but it’s all part of touring! You get used to adapting. These noodle pots were epic, life hack – fill your rider with ramen.”

“Just before stage at the O2 academy Brixton London. This was my favourite outfit of the tour I think. Custom made latex ‘spitting venom’ tee which is a lyric in my song ‘to have and hold’ – ‘let me finish my sentence, let me speak before I end up spitting venom’ – which we made cotton versions of as merch. I love it when a plan comes together, also the gloves make me feel like Edward scissor hands which is an eternal reference.”

“Soundcheck in Brixton Academy. This photo makes me laugh because I had just been napping and literally rolled out of bed from a deep sleep to come to sound check – creases all over. One sock up, one down, sliders on, I was so tired haha. Ah the glamour of touring.”

Manchester

“Me just before stage at Manchester Academy. Getting my IEM pack clipped on the back of my shorts. My t shirt is of course Vivienne Westwood and has two penises on which is more penises than I’ve ever worn on a t shirt.”

Cardiff

“Post-show in Cardiff.  Hair extensions out and brushed. I look after those extensions like they are my children. It’s weirdly therapeutic to brush them and I guess has become a pre show/ post show ritual. We did six shows in seven days this week and I was knackered.”

Glasgow

“This was just before the final show of the tour, in Glasgow. This big smile was a forced smile to make myself be in a good mood because I was actually really stressed before the show, I had to fast track the good mood haha. You can really feel the psycho through it…”

“Empty venue after the last show of the tour in Glasgow. This tour was such an emotional one, it felt like a family. We all made friends for life on it, it’s a favourite memory of mine and I know it will be forever. Something emotive about an empty venue. A season finale. I love music so much.”

“That’s all folks!”

Chinchilla is heading out on The Bigger Rooms tour in February and March next year.
