To celebrate the release, Marley Bleu chats with 1883 about her proudest career moment so far, collaborating with Pink Sweat$, and artists that inspire her in the studio.

What’s one exciting thing that happened to you this week?

I dropped my first single “unintentional” with Pink Sweat$. I had a little release party with loved ones and people on my team, which filled my heart up so much.

What was the last thing you read?

Verity by Colleen Hoover! Such a crazy book.

Favorite memory growing up?

Riding in the car with my family as my dad would play different albums like Channel Orange, The Black Messiah, or Kamala the Abstract.

Where was the last place you traveled to?

Miami, Florida! I filmed a bunch of content with Pink Sweat$ and had studio sessions with Supadups and his camp.

What was the last thing that made you laugh?

A meme of a caveman riding a bike in the jungle.

What’s your night time ritual?

I have some type of beverage like tea or wine, watch One Tree Hill or Youtube crime interrogation videos, do my skincare routine, & retire for the night.

Who would be on your dream dinner party guest list?

My closest friends & family members!

Favorite quote from a film or TV show?

The entire script from the movie “School of Rock.”

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

“Rise Up” by Andra Day!

Favorite item in your closet?

My Golf le Fleur Yellow Flame Converse!

Tell us about your latest single “unintentional” – what’s the inspo behind it?

This song was inspired by the story of how I unintentionally got into a relationship that ended up becoming the most intentional relationship in my life!

Where is the best place to listen to “unintentional”?

I’d say in the car on a sunny day with some type of refreshing beverage.

In a few short words, describe your music for someone that’s never heard it.

My music is more pop than R&B, but more soul than pop. It’s like a colorful movie in your mind.

How did the collaboration with Pink Sweat$ come about?

My friend Rozo, a co-writer of “unintentional,” sent the song to Pink Sweat$ and he actually ended up loving it, so he said he wanted to hop on the second verse and recorded his part less than 2 weeks later! The way it all happened was super magical considering he’s been one of my top listened-to artists for years.

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

I am most proud of remaining true to myself and having a character of integrity through all different types of situations thrown my way.

What other artists/musicians inspire you when you’re making music?

Ariana Grande, Yebba, Victoria Monet, Frank Ocean, Stevie Wonder, and Tori Kelly to name a few.

What movie or TV show do you think your music would fit on the soundtrack?

Probably on one of the reality shows about finding love!

Where do you hope your music career takes you this year and beyond?

This year, I hope to have my first live performances. Overall, I’m just excited to meet the people who love my music and just vibe all in one room together!
