1883 On Rotation: Jack Howard, UCHE YARA, Néomi

The latest in new music from Jack Howard, Hugo Brijs, UCHE YARA, Néomi & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.

On rotation this week is the brand new single from rising artist Jack Howard. The London-based singer-songwriter has shared the track “Another Day” which is full of attention-grabbing vocals, delicate guitar, electronic textures and hazy synths. Thematically, the song is about hope. Jack said: “This song is about someone I love overcoming addiction. When I wrote this song I needed to be hopeful that it was all going to be okay.” Don’t sleep on this artist, his debut EP All Things That Came Before is releasing this year. 

“Creeper” is the new track from songwriter, Hugo Brijs. It’s a mix of soulful vocals, 70s instrumentals, and strings. It’s a gorgeous composition. The song’s story is just as cinematic as the music itself, a femme-fatale gangster entering a bar, playing poker, and capturing the heart of a simple man. 

The Jakarta-born, LA-based singer-songwriter and producer, NIKI, has dropped the new song “Too Much of a Good Thing”. It boasts honest lyricism, slick production, and stellar vocals. It is lifted from NIKKI’s third studio album Buzz which lands August 9. 

The genre-defying artist UCHE YARA has dropped the five-track EP GOLDEN DAYS. It’s full of warm production, tales of youth, interesting sonics, and distinctive vocals. Listen to EP opener, “ZUU (Zoo)”. Catch UCHE live in London on May 21 at The Lexington. 

Beloved South-London producer, songwriter, and instrumentalist, Tom Misch, has dropped the new single “Insecure”. It’s full of lush vocals, Misch’s trademark soulful melodies and intricate guitar. 

Elsewhere in the playlist, you can find the artist the Surinamese/Dutch songwriter Néomi who has shared her debut LP, Somebody’s Daughter via PIAS. It’s atmospheric, heartfelt, and full of folk-pop tunes. Make sure to check out the album’s title track. Néomi will headline London’s The Old Blue Last on May 9. 

Sydney-based singer-songwriter GRAACE has released the new track, “Love Is Getting Wasted”. It’s full of gorgeous vocals and pristine production. According to GRAACE, the song is about “feeling torn between sticking it out or calling it quits in a relationship”.

Finally, Winona Oak has shared her new EP, VOID. The EP focus track “Who Would I Be” is a heartfelt anthem.
