The Live Mixtape is a cascading sonic journey that encapsulates the essence of Ben’s creative spirit, born out of late-night studio sessions, intense writing stints, and the raw energy of live performances. To further enrapture listeners in his world, Ben Hazlewood created a full-length visual session to accompany The Live Mixtape, premiering exclusively on 1883.
“Live music pulls out my truth,” Hazlewood states to 1883. “Playing and singing live have always been the most important thing to me in music.. for the live mixtape, I wanted to be in a room of incredible musicians showcasing my songs in the way I adore the most which is live. Movement and the visual accompaniment is such a part of what I do and love. To be able to consolidate all of these elements into one piece of art is my greatest feat.”
Serving as a “novella” to his LP Streetlights and Revolutions, this project showcases a collection of tracks that Ben crafted over two years, spanning various locations around the globe. Accompanied by his six-piece band, Hazlewood conducts his sonic story against sonics that truly capture exactly what it feels like to be at one of his live shows. In turn, the seamless 15-minute visual transcends traditional music formats, offering listeners an immersive experience of Ben Hazlewood’s powerful and intimate sound.
