Welcome back! It’s been a while since we last heard from you. How has this break and time of travel influenced your music and your outlook on life?
Thank you! Yes, it’s been a year and a half of wandering, learning, and experiencing so many new things. I had the chance to travel to 20 different countries, including the USA, Mexico, and Europe. Traveling and meeting people from different cultures really opens your mind and gives you endless inspiration. I put my music career on hold for a year and a half, but it was also a great experience for me touring the world as a tour manager. However, I’m happy to be back with my own music today!
That sounds like a profound experience. What was the moment or realization that inspired your new single, Suffer Well?
Suffer Well came from a place of reflection. The title might sound intense, but it’s really about resilience. It’s a lesson to myself to never give up when things feel impossible. We all face dark moments, times when the sky feels black, and we wonder how we’ll keep going. But it’s in those moments that we discover what we’re truly made of. The song is a prayer for strength to always believe in yourself and the angels above you, because we are never truly alone, even when it feels that way. I wanted to write a song that could remind people to hold on and keep fighting, even in the hardest moments.
It’s such a powerful message. How would you say this song compares to your previous work? Is there a shift in your musical style or themes?
Suffer Well definitely represents a shift in my sound and mindset. I’ve always had a darker, introspective style in my music, but this single is more raw and vulnerable than some of my past work. It’s also more hopeful, despite its intense theme. I feel like this song blends my signature style with a new sense of freedom. It’s almost like a reclaiming of my own voice.
That sense of freedom really comes across in the music. You worked with Cliff Estatof, a well-known French producer, on this track. How was the creative process with him?
Working with Cliff was an incredible experience. He’s such a talented producer with a deep understanding of sound. He’s known for his work on Space Call and many other projects. I’ve known Cliff for two years now—he’s the husband of my best friend Camille. I trust them 100%. They’re like my second family. So when I decided to work on my old Goth demo Suffer Well and wanted to make it more dark pop, I immediately asked Cliff, and he simply nailed it.
I also have to mention Damien Badey, who recorded my vocals. I’ve worked with Damien since my first EP in 2020, and I was happy to bring him into this new single!
That must have been such an enriching experience. In terms of the sound, can you describe Suffer Well?
Suffer Well is a blend of dark, atmospheric pop with a sense of cinematic grandeur. I wanted the song to feel intense, almost haunting at times, but also to have moments of relief. The track has a lot of texture, with layers of synths, heavy beats, and haunting melodies. It’s cinematic, like something you’d hear in a movie during a pivotal scene. I think people will feel both the heaviness and the release, and that’s what I love about it.
Will there be more music or perhaps an album in the works?
Definitely! Suffer Well is just the beginning of a new chapter. I feel so good to be back in my music. I spent almost two years working for many bands as a booking agent and tour manager, so I’m happy to take time for myself. I think I’ve found a great way to work with Cliff. We really understand each other when it comes to music. I think for the next step, he’ll be even more involved in the music. We love the dark spirit mixed with some pop elements, and we also love rock ‘n’ roll, so maybe it’ll get more badass—we’ll see. But for sure, another single will be released this year!
We can’t wait for all of that! You’ve been on a remarkable journey, and it’s clear that your music is evolving beautifully. Is there anything else you’d like to share with your fans?
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey. This last year and a half has been both amazing and challenging, but it has made me stronger in every way. When the sky is black, don’t give up—believe in your angels, and the sun will come back again. I’m so grateful for the love and encouragement I’ve received. Don’t give up. Keep going. And know that you are never alone. I hope this song can be a reminder of that.
