Few rising bands in UK rock are creating momentum quite like Dead Pony. Known for their explosive live shows, sharp songwriting, and heavy genre-blurring sound, the Scottish outfit have steadily built a reputation as one of the most exciting new acts on the circuit. With raw energy at the centre of everything they do, Dead Pony balance chaos and precision in a way that feels both immediate and unmistakably their own.
Whether through emotionally charged lyrics, huge hooks, or relentless touring, the band have continued to carve out a loyal and fast-growing fanbase, earning attention for performances that feel as cathartic as they are unpredictable. Onstage, their chemistry is impossible to ignore, transforming packed venues into sweat-soaked, high-energy spaces where every song lands with force.
The buzzy rock group took 1883 Magazine behind the scenes at their headlining show at Mama Roux’s in Birmingham last month.

We’re big foodies and everyday after sound check we go for a nice meal and a few beers. It’s a good way to unwind after a long drive and a busy day and it’s a great way to explore the different cities that we visit everyday.

We’ll often go for a stroll around the local area and find a cool bar to sit in for a few hours pre-show.

Before our gig in Birmingham we found this really cool spot called The Ruin. We sat and had few drinks and played our favourite card game – Arschloch. A German girl taught me (Anna) and Blair this game years ago when we were travelling and we have shown it to our friends and played it ever since.

Blair likes to bend the rules and use bribery to try and win the game. I think he’s a cheat but he insists that type of gameplay is allowed (even though it’s not). Side note – we showed Garry (the photographer for this feature) how to play this game and when he lost, his forfeit was to go and ask the bar if they have any Camels milk.

Anna is a sore loser.

On the walk back to the venue we met this really cute dog.

Liam is always up to absolute mischief and if there is a venue with a costume cupboard he will 100% be raiding it..

Euan egging him on as usual.

We found this cool scrapyard and thought it looked quite Mad Max.

Every night on tour I make notes on my setlist of what I should be mentioning between songs. Sometimes with the adrenaline of performing it can be hard to remember your queues so having prompts helps me remember what’s coming next.

Warming up my voice before stage.

Sometimes the dressing room can be a bit hectic and chaotic as there’s 4 of us all trying to get ready in the same room at the same time.

Taking a moment to breathe before we go onstage.

Blair’s always winding Liam up on stage.

That feeling when the whole crowd sings your song back to you.
