A birthday stay at Dorchester Collection's Berkshire countryside estate led to one of the best facials I have ever had — and, according to my Oura ring, two extra hours of restorative time.

Inside Coworth Park’s Reimagined Spa And The Most Relaxing Hour Of My Year

My partner booked Coworth Park as part of my birthday gift. I’d told him I didn’t want a party, just quality time with him and our daughter somewhere really special. Coworth Park turned out to be exactly that. Set across 240 acres of Berkshire countryside, it has the kind of space you want when you have a 15 month old in tow — one who cannot stand still for more than thirty seconds. A small boutique hotel was never going to cut it. Here, there were horses to visit, green lawns to tear across, and open air in every direction.

We arrived on a sunny Saturday afternoon and were upgraded to a Junior Suite in the Stables, which was an unexpectedly lovely start. Champagne and chocolates were waiting in the room which another very nice suprise. The suite itself was everything we could have hoped for: a spacious living room area, two bathrooms, and a bed so comfortable you resent having to leave it. In the bathroom, a copper roll top bath with Wildsmith & Barley toiletries waiting on the edge of it.

The Pool

The spa

The Spa at Coworth Park has recently been reimagined, and it shows. The design pulls the outside in — floor-to-ceiling windows, soft organic textures, a palette that echoes the meadow beyond the glass. Facilities span two floors and include an amethyst lined indoor pool with underwater music, a Finnish sauna, a citrine lined steam room, and a snow shower for anyone brave enough. There are also two dedicated relaxation rooms: the Awaken, which is flooded with natural light and countryside views, and the Calm, a darkened space where vibro-acoustic beds are supposed to lull you into what the spa calls “inmost tranquility”.

Quartz Treatment Room

The Natura Bissé Pure Air Bubble facial

A bit of context before I get into the treatment itself. About a month before this trip, I started wearing an Oura ring and tracking my health data daily. One pattern kept showing up: high stress scores, day after day. Not surprising for anyone with a toddler and also for a complely non-layed-back perspon such as myself but It still started to worry me a bit. I wanted to find out whether and how I could bring those stress scores down and get my restorative time back up.

The next morning, after breakfast and a slow hour visiting the horses on the estate, I headed to the spa for a well deserverd treatment: the Natura Bissé Vitamin C facial, performed inside the brand’s signature Pure Air Bubble. The Bubble is exactly what it sounds like: a sealed pod environment where the air is filtered to 99.99% purity, free from contaminating particles, allergens, and bacteria. The concept was first developed for athletes with respiratory conditions, and Natura Bissé has exclusive rights to use it in a beauty context. The idea is that the purified environment allows skincare products to be absorbed more efficiently, while the cleaner air itself has a detoxifying, oxygenating effect on the skin and body.

Stepping into the Bubble, the air feels noticeably different, fresh in a way that is hard to put your finger on. I’m not sure whether it was the air itself, the skincare, or the combination of both, but I was able to relax in a way that doesn’t come easily to me. The facial incorporates Natura Bissé’s Pro-Youth Lifting Method, which works on specific pressure points including the vagus nerve, so alongside the vitamin C brightening work, there is a genuine tension release element that you feel in your whole body, not just your face.

Pure Air Bubble

I had not used Natura Bissé before this. I came out a complete convert. The C+C vitamin C range left my skin visibly brighter and more glowy. The smell is also georgeous: a bright, clean citrus scent that is both calming and energising.

After the treatment, I was invited to spend time in the relaxation rooms. I chose the Calm, the darkened room and settled onto one of the vibro-acoustic beds. These are meditative beds that use sound and vibration to bring the body into a deeper state of rest. The spa claims that 20 minutes on one of them is equivalent to 12 hours of sleep, which sounds like exactly the sort of thing a wellness brand says. I was sceptical.

The Calm Relaxation Room

I checked my Oura ring when I got back to the room that evening. My restorative time had gone up by two hours! Worth clarifying: restorative time on Oura is not the same as sleep, it measures how much time your body actually spends in a genuine recovery state, based on signals like HRV and resting heart rate. It is, if anything, a harder number to shift than sleep duration.

Two hours up. On a day that had already included a toddler, a full breakfast, a walk across the grounds, and a facial. I honestly did not expect the data to back the claim up, but there it was. The combination of the Pure Air Bubble environment, the vagus nerve work in the facial, and then the vibro-acoustic beds seems to have done the job.

Worth every minute

Coworth Park manages to feel genuinely relaxed and unpretentious, despite being a 5 star hotel with impecable service. The grounds are beautiful and calm enough that you decompress without really noticing it happening. The spa is impressive, one of the best designed I have been to, and the Natura Bissé partnership adds a treatment offering that really matches the vibe of the hotel and the grounds. If you are specifically looking for a family friendly escape that does not ask you to sacrifice anything on the adult end, this is a strong option.

And if you are looking for a facial that does more than just your skin, book the Pure Air Bubble. I did not expect to come out feeling that reset, but I did. Highly recommend.
