London-born singer-songwriter Mila Sidhu is embracing a more confident side of herself on ‘One Night’, a sultry new single that blends alt-pop and R&B with elements of her Indian heritage.

There’s an immediate sense of confidence to the track. Built around seductive vocals and crisp, rhythmic production, ‘One Night’ captures the feeling of walking into a room and knowing you have everyone’s attention. More importantly, Mila isn’t waiting for someone else to make the first move.

“‘One Night’ is about walking into a room being a beautiful girl and knowing you can have anyone you want in that room,” she says.

Created with producer Siloe, the track began with Mila wanting to bring an Indian influence into the production. She developed the melodies around her voice before later travelling to India, where she worked with an Indian singer to explore traditional musical scales.

She then brought that knowledge back into the song, giving the track another connection to her heritage without taking it away from its contemporary pop and R&B sound.

At 25, Mila has spent much of her life moving between different cultures. Half Indian and half white, she never lived in one country for more than seven years while growing up. Rather than seeing home as one particular place, she has found a sense of belonging through music.

A Berklee alum, Mila draws from alternative R&B, jazz, hip-hop and darker pop, with influences ranging from Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill to Billie Eilish and Norah Jones.

Her songwriting often comes from heightened emotions, exploring love, lust, heartbreak and self-discovery through intimate, cinematic songs.

‘One Night’ takes a slightly different approach.

The vulnerability that often sits at the heart of Mila’s writing is replaced by something more assured. It’s about enjoying being desired without losing control of the situation.

That balance carries into the visual identity surrounding her music, which leans dark, feminine and glamorous while keeping a sense of independence. Her Indian heritage sits comfortably alongside the Western and global influences that have shaped her life.

With ‘One Night’, Mila Sidhu brings all of those sides together. It’s a song about desire, confidence and knowing exactly what you want and not being afraid to own it.
