PEGGY first built a devoted community through her breakout singles “ALICE,” “MESS,” and “Villains Aren’t Born (They’re Made).” Fans were drawn to the unapologetic escapism and whimsy woven through her lyrics and aesthetic, elements that now come together in her upcoming debut LP, “ONCE UPON A TIME,” arriving November via Nettwerk Music Group.
Taken from the album, her new single, “STARCROSSED,” is a dramatic duet featuring Lydia the Bard that revisits the familiar trope of star-crossed lovers through two opposing perspectives. While PEGGY’s character sees the ending as inevitable, Lydia still believes there may be a reason to keep fighting.
The track opens with delicate, pinched strings and twinkling keys that evoke a midnight constellation before building into an intense vocal tug-of-war between PEGGY’s fatalistic character, who insists that fighting fate is useless, and Lydia the Bard’s persistent optimism. Their contrasting performances create a cinematic clash between resignation and hope, setting the tone for an album that draws on classic literature to explore real-world emotional struggles.

The LP moves from grand literary archetypes to female rebellion, artificial realities, and ultimately, full-blown revolution.
Rooted in mythology but shaped by modern emotional uncertainty, “STARCROSSED” places PEGGY’s resignation against Lydia the Bard’s determination, leaving room for the possibility that even an inevitable ending may still be worth fighting against.
