Emerging pop artist Pia Baris has released her debut EP stardust, a six-track collection that introduces the German singer-songwriter as a compelling new voice in contemporary pop. Blending intimate storytelling, atmospheric production, and intricately layered vocal arrangements, the project arrives as the culmination of years spent developing her craft through classical training, live performance, and songwriting.
Music has been central to Baris’ life from an early age. At just ten years old, she joined the Frankfurt Opera, appearing in more than 150 productions before later performing as a soprano soloist. Alongside her work on stage, she received a scholarship to Dr. Hoch’s Conservatory in Frankfurt, where she built a strong classical foundation while continuing to explore contemporary music. A pianist since the age of six, with additional training in ballet and hip-hop, Baris brings a multidisciplinary perspective to her artistry that informs both her music and performance style.
Raised bilingually and writing primarily in English, Baris has steadily built momentum through original releases, live appearances, television performances, and support slots for established artists. Following her move to Berlin after graduating from school, she fully committed to pursuing music professionally, laying the foundations for what would become stardust.
Across the EP, Baris reflects on the emotional complexities of early adulthood, exploring themes of self-discovery, heartbreak, intimacy, emotional dependency, and personal growth. Drawing from her own experiences, the songs balance confessional lyricism with vivid imagery and cinematic detail.
Opening track ‘i know’ captures the uncertainty that accompanied her move to Berlin, exploring loneliness, self-doubt, and the search for belonging. ‘picket fence’ follows with a poignant look at a relationship that cannot endure despite its beauty, while ‘silhouette’ examines the lingering presence of a former love through dreamy production and reflective songwriting. Elsewhere, ‘machete’ introduces a more playful confidence, pairing infectious pop hooks with themes of emotional boundaries and self-preservation.
Throughout stardust, Baris’ sophisticated use of vocal harmonies remains a defining feature, reflecting her years of choir and classical performance experience.
