With one of the most glamorous awards nights in the UK music calendar fast approaching, the nominations for this year’s BRIT Awards have been unveiled.
The BRIT Awards 2025 will take place at London’s O2 on Saturday, March 1, and it will be a night of celebration for the UK music industry. The nominations were revealed this evening during a streamed event ahead of the big annual ceremony, which started 48 years ago when it was previously known as The British Record Industry Britannia Awards. Host Sian Welby brought viewers live announcements of the shortlists, alongside some special appearances from nominees.
Pop superstar Charli xcx is leading the way with the most nominations of any artist this year, including five nominations for artist of the year, Mastercard album of the year, song of the year, dance, and pop act. Seven-time BRIT winner Dua Lip has been nominated for four awards – pop act, artist of the year, Mastercard album of the year, and song of the year. Indie-rock group The Last Dinner Party have been nominated for four awards – group of the year, best new artist, alternative/ rock act, and Mastercard album of the year.
The Cure have received their first nominations in more than 30 years, including Mastercard album of the year, alternative/rock act, and group of the year. Some of the other artists up for multiple awards include Beabadoobee, Central Cee, Chase & Status, Fred again, JADE, Nia Archives, Michael Kiwanuka, Rachel Chinouriri, and Sam Fender. Singer-songwriter Myles Smith has already won the 2025 Brits rising star award.

This year’s international group of the year features some fierce competition with the likes of Amyl & The Sniffers, Confidence Man, Fontaines D.C. and Linkin Park. Whereas the international artist of the year award nominations include Benson Boone, Adrianne Lanker, Asake, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, and Tyler the Creator.
Winners will be announced during the show, which is airing exclusively on ITV1 & ITVX and being hosted by Jack Whitehall. This year’s award has been designed by artist Gabriel Moses. Music fans can publicly vote for who they want to win the five genre award categories via WhatsApp once the polls open at noon on January 31. It will then close on February 14 at 6pm.
