The Leaning | The Orange Night

Brighton-based duo The Leaning returns with their highly anticipated new EP, The Orange Night.

Comprised of vocalist and songwriter Sam Jordan and guitarist and arranger Ez Stone, The Leaning has cultivated a reputation for their distinct blend of psych-noise-infused surf pop, consistently drawing sellout crowds to headline shows in Brighton and London. Their live performances feature a rotating cast of musicians, ensuring each show offers a unique sonic experience.

Speaking about the EP, the band elaborates, “This collection was crafted in an apartment overlooking Portslade Harbour, where each evening’s colored sunsets serve as inspiration, contrasting the promise of summer with the impending return of winter’s darkness and stormy seas.”

Produced by Jimmy Day, who has worked with the likes of Massive Attack, Black Coffee, Payfone, Loyal, Rósín Murphy, The Orange Night perfectly encapsulates The Leaning’s innovative approach to music-making. The tracks boast rich alternative textures, weaving in electronic elements alongside folk, psychedelic, and soul influences. Sam’s emotive vocal delivery adds depth and sincerity to the EP, resulting in a mature, intricate, and truly unique sound.

The Orange Night is out now.
