The latest in new music from julie, UPSAHL, NCT DREAM, Noga Erez & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.
On rotation this week is the new single from LA-based band, julie. “Very little effort” is a grunge-esque release with effortlessly cool guitars, gritty guitars, and explosive dynamics. The trio are releasing their debut record My Anti-Aircraft Friend on September 13 via Atlantic Records. Catch julie on a headline North American tour from October onwards. Alt-pop superstar in the making, UPSAHL, is back with a new song called “Tears on the Dancefloor”. It’s an infectious earworm with flawless vocals, 2000s pop influences, and electronic textures. K-pop icons NCT DREAM have shared a glorious new English-language tune called “Rains in Heaven”. It’s full of ethereal 80s synth-pop moments, gorgeous vocals, and the most immaculate vibes. Thematically, the song is a message of comfort and strength to anyone who’s feeling overwhelmed. NCT DREAM are returning to London to headline the Wembley Arena on November 12th as part of an EU tour. Singer, rapper, and versatile artist Noga Erez is back with the slick single “GODMOTHER” featuring Eden Ben Zaken. Throughout the track, you can expect on-point vocals, cinematic soundscapes, orchestral strings, and much more. The single is about being consumed by chaos, fear, and isolation, and it is lifted from her third studio album, THE VANDALIST, which drops September 20th.
Elsewhere in the playlist, you can find the American artist Roe Kapara. The indie songwriter has released his new sophomore EP Big Cigars and Satin Shorts via Epitaph Records. It’s full of thrilling guitars, energetic vocals, and stellar production. Make sure to check out the punchy EP track, “Hate Myself”. Rising alt-popstar Zolita has shared the brilliant new track “Hypocrite”. It’s a post-breakup anthem with strong vocals, pop-punk hooks, and introspective lyricism. Speaking about the track, she said the song came about after going through a “brutal long term breakup”. Zolita’s US tour kicks off on September 13th. The buzzy duo Good Neighbours are continually going from strength to strength. After going viral, playing tons of shows across the world, the band have now announced their debut self-titled EP. Alongside this announcement the duo have shared the new track “Bloom”, it’s a feel-good and ethereal indie-pop release. Their EP lands on October 4th.
The UK solo artist Anna Blaise has revealed her debut single “Girl I Know”. For a first release, it’s incredibly impressive. There are heartfelt vocals, emotive synths, and vibrant production qualities. Keep an eye on this artist. Finally, Emei has shared the single, “RABBITHOLE”. The breakout American artist has already garnered a wide range of support from tastemakers and it’s all thanks to her refreshing alt-pop sound.
