The latest in new music from Wolf Alice, Jin, Persia Holder, Aminé & more in this week’s 1883 On Rotation playlist.
On rotation this week, we see the return of UK indie heroes Wolf Alice. The band are back with the glorious song, “Bloom Baby Bloom”. It’s an anthemic release full of incredible vocals, poppier and dynamic hooks, and it comes with a stunning accompanying visual. It’s Wolf Alice sounding more colourful and bigger than ever before. Their fourth album, The Clearing, is releasing on August 29.
Pop phenomenon Jin, known as one of the leading members of mega-group BTS, has shared his second solo album today called Echo. The record all the different moments and experiences life can bring. From delving into rock and soaring heartfelt ballads, there are plenty of vibrant sonics across the album. Make sure to check out “LOSER” featuring YENA.
South London’s Persia Holder is an emerging singer-songwriter who pens breathtaking tunes. She’s just released the emotive new track “Echo”, there’s flawless vocals and pristine pop production. Persia’s debut EP I Didn’t Think You’d Hear This will release on July 11.
Multifaceted artist Aminé has dropped his new album, 13 Months of Sunshine. Throughout, he masterfully blends lush vocals with Afrobeat, hip-hop, and alternative R&B sonics. Thematically, he carefully balances danceable tracks with moments of introspection. It’s seriously addictive, you’ll have it on repeat. Listen to the short but brilliant track, “Familiar”.
Au/Ra has marked her comeback with the effortlessly cool and cinematic release, “Blah”. It’s an exceptional return to form following a three-year hiatus. Filled with bright pop and electronic moments, the song sees Au/Ra expressing her frustration and confronting her past. Catch her performing live in Manchester, London, and Berlin this September.
The hotly tipped four-piece Florence Road have released their exhilarating new single, “Figure It Out”. The guitar-driven track blends raw energy, gritty production and sharp vocals. It’s a confident release from a rapidly rising band destined for greatness. The group’s debut mixtape, Fall Back, lands on June 20. Catch the group supporting Olivia Rodrigo at BST Hyde Park next month.
Newcomer Woody has shared a promising double-single release entitled “slack / she’s all that I need”. For the playlist, we’re focusing on “slack”, a stellar song with fantastic vocals, catchy alt-pop moments, and slick production. He’s inspired by an eclectic mix of established names from Paul Simon to Mac DeMarco and even Prince, Jai Paul, and Tame Impala. Keep an eye on this artist.
Finally, the ever-brilliant songwriter and guitarist Tom Misch has shared the new single, “Red Moon”. It’s superb.
