Art of the Game: How Baseline Bond is redefining tennis culture at Indra Gallery

Baseline Bond is building something tennis has never had before: a social tennis community that exists beyond the court. Founded by Lily Reynolds, a former international tennis player, Baseline Bond is reshaping how people engage with the sport, both on and off the court. Drawing on Lily’s first-hand experience within the tennis world, the platform creates spaces where the sport intersects with art, music and culture, opening tennis up to new audiences and redefining what it can represent.

On 6th December at Indra Gallery London, that vision came to life with the launch of Art of the Game, the first in an event series exploring tennis through a creative lens. The inaugural edition featured the work of Gabi Taylor, a former British professional tennis player who made the bold decision to put down her racket in 2020 to pursue her passion for art. Having spent her formative years competing at the highest level, Gabi brought a rare and deeply authentic perspective to her work – one shaped by lived experience inside the physical, technical and psychological realities of pro tennis. For the event, Gabi created 16 bespoke pieces, each inspired by a different dimension of the sport.

The event brought together a powerful and previously unseen convergence of worlds. Leading figures from British tennis and London’s creative community gathered alongside Baseline Bond’s growing network. It was neither a traditional tennis event nor a conventional art exhibition. It was a new kind of cultural space – one where tennis became the common thread connecting sport, art, music and people.

The atmosphere reflected this ambition. With a live DJ set to beers from Jubel and great wines, the whole environment felt vibrant and elevated. Conversations moved seamlessly between athletes and artists, revealing a shared curiosity and openness that rarely exists within traditional sporting environments.

Art of the Game marked more than the launch of a series. It signalled the arrival of a new cultural platform within tennis – one that exists beyond courts and competition. By creating spaces where tennis intersects with creativity and community, Baseline Bond is building something entirely original: a modern cultural ecosystem for the sport.
