Can a Facial Fix Postpartum Skin?
I Tried Skinstorm to Find Out

Postpartum skin left me dull, tired, and breaking out. I tried the Skinstorm facial at The Clinic Holland Park — a high-tech, no-downtime treatment that genuinely helped reset my skin.

After covering the gorgeous Crystal Clear x Amanda Caroline spring lunch a few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to be invited back to actually try the treatment everyone was talking about: Skinstorm.

My session took place at The Clinic Holland Park, a sleek, welcoming space tucked away in one of West London’s most exclusive postcodes. I was treated by Alani, a warm, knowledgeable beautician who made me feel instantly at ease. She talked me through every step, explained what my skin needed most, and tailored the treatment accordingly.

For context, my skin has always been high maintenance. Acne has followed me through adulthood, melasma joined in during my early 30s, and now — three months postpartum my complexion has been hanging on by a hormonal thread. If pregnancy gave me glowy, glassy, no-effort skin, postpartum life has given me the opposite: breakouts, dullness, dehydration, and a kind of slackness from all the sleepless nights.

This isn’t unusual; postpartum skin can be wildly unpredictable. As your hormone levels shift dramatically (especially estrogen and progesterone), everything from oil production to pigmentation to collagen balance can be thrown off. For some, it means dry, sensitive skin; for others, it’s full-on hormonal acne. Add disrupted sleep, stress, and breastfeeding-related dehydration, and your skin starts showing all the signs of burnout, even when the rest of you is just trying to get through the day.

Personally, I’ve noticed my skin becoming much more reactive, prone to breakouts, and just looking… tired. The kind of tired no concealer really covers. So I went into this treatment hopeful, but also realistic. I wasn’t expecting miracles, just something to help nudge my skin in the right direction.

Skinstorm’s Six High-Tech Steps

Skinstorm isn’t your average facial. It’s non-invasive, doesn’t require downtime, and yet somehow manages to be incredibly active. Think of it as a reboot for your skin — with a side of spa-like calm.

Here’s what the full treatment includes:

1. Oxygen Ice Vortex Cleanse

A super-cleansing oxygenated niacinamide vortex cleanse infused with chilled pure dissolvable oxygen, creating a vortex of ice and water to deeply cleanse and oxygenate the skin.
Perfect for: dull, congested, dehydrated skin.

2. Resurface and Heal with Phototherapy Light

Experience a transformation ranging from an immediate buff, polish, and glow to comprehensive treatments targeting lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks, and pigmentation issues. This next generation of microdermabrasion is combined with phototherapy using red and blue light for acne, LED light to heal and repair, and green light to eliminate pigmentation and dark marks.
Perfect for: pigmented, ageing, sun-damaged skin, scarring, and tired skin.

3. Oxygen Ice Peel

Introducing the world’s only peel that combines the rejuvenating power of dissolved oxygen with a potent blend of fruit acids (AHAs) and the unique application of freezing temperatures. This revolutionary treatment oxygenates, energises, and resurfaces the skin, infusing it with vital oxygen, reducing stress, and refining its overall look and feel.
Perfect for: problematic skin, pigmentation, comprehensive skin resurfacing, and signs of ageing.

4. Oxygen Ice Needling with Drone Technology

A world’s first—Oxy Ice Needling with Drone Technology is a global innovation in skin rejuvenation. This advanced treatment utilises microneedling infused with oxygen to deeply rejuvenate the skin. By creating micro-channels, it delivers a powerful blend of active ingredients that stimulate collagen production, improving the skin’s structure and yielding immediate hydration, clarity, and overall rejuvenation.
Perfect for: stimulating collagen production and improving skin structure.

5. High-Pressure Injection – The Instant Skin Booster

This precision-led treatment saturates the skin with active compounds, delivering noticeable plumpness without the use of needles. It’s ideal for those desiring volumetric enhancement without injections, offering intensive hydration and volumising specific areas.
Perfect for: lines, wrinkles, nose-to-mouth lines, lipstick lines, lax skin on the neck, and those who are needle-phobic.

6. Triple Fusion Phototherapy

This unique therapy merges red, blue, green, and near-infrared light, providing clinically proven advantages that significantly bolster skin strength and wellness.
Perfect for: enhancing skin strength and overall wellness.

Immediate Results? Yes — and No Downtime

Here’s the thing: I didn’t walk out looking “glass skin” perfect (I blame the hormones for that), but I absolutely walked out looking better. My skin felt calmer, clearer, less inflamed, and visibly brighter. The usual post-treatment flush? Non-existent. I could’ve gone straight to dinner without a hint of foundation.

What’s more impressive is how my skin behaved over the next few days — smoother, less congested, and just… better. And when you’re postpartum and barely sleeping, that kind of improvement is everything.

After the treatment, I chatted more with Alani about what clients are asking for lately and what’s actually worth paying attention to.

She said that while lasers like BBL and Moxi are still top of the treatment list (and for good reason — the results are fast and powerful), there’s also growing interest in newer regenerative treatments like Polynucleotides (also affectionately known as the “salmon sperm facial”). These focus less on fixing what’s wrong at the surface, and more on rebuilding and strengthening the skin over time.

It’s a philosophy that aligns with Skinstorm perfectly and with what so many of us are looking for now: treatments that support long-term skin health, not just quick fixes.

If you’re someone who’s been wary of high-tech facials because of downtime or sensitivity, Skinstorm is worth trying. It’s results-driven without being aggressive, and it left me feeling more in control of my skin for the first time in months.

It won’t solve every problem in one session — but as part of a longer-term skin journey? I’d book it again in a heartbeat.
