Celebrities With More Money Than Sense

Picture 1

Drake, a Canadian singer, and rapper is renowned for his passion for high stakes and frequently places wagers of several hundred thousand dollars each time. In his most recent wager, Drake recently backed athlete Israel Adesanya to defeat Alex Pereira UFC 281 fight took place in New York’s Madison Square Garden, and lost $2 million on the bet. He makes millions of dollars a year, and it seems that he is not too concerned about his big losses.

Which Celebrities Enjoy Gambling?

Drake is not the only celebrity that has this much money to spend on gambling. Many of Hollywood’s greatest stars have reportedly been seen gambling in casinos or known to place bets online. Charlie Sheen, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Toby McGuire are a few A-list actors worth mentioning.

What Other Way Do Celebrities Spend Their Cash?

The fact that A-listers like to spend money on things that we would deem excessive is nothing new. In our humble opinion, the following celebrities have more money than common sense:

Kim Bassinger

Despite losing all of her money and declaring bankruptcy in the mid-1990s, Kim Bassinger has amassed a net worth of almost $20 million. Kim bought the Georgian township of Braselton in the hopes that she could turn it into a popular tourist destination. It was among the assets auctioned off to repay her creditors during the bankruptcy. Six years after she paid $20 million for the town, it was sold at auction for $1 million.

Mike Tyson

According to sources, Mike Tyson has a net worth of $10 million. But at one point, the famous fighter was worth an astounding $300 million. To cut a long story short, Mike eventually had to file for bankruptcy after blowing his fortune on several items. Mike owed the IRS more than $8.6 million, his ex-wife and the legal system $10.5 million, and he also owed $148,000 on cell phones and pagers when he filed for bankruptcy. Additionally, he bought two white Bengal tigers for $150,000.

Johnny Depp

Depp made headlines by spending $3 million to have his friend, author Hunter S. Thompson, ashes fired from a cannon. That and other lavish expenses have left the singer in financial woes. The star filed a lawsuit against his managers, blaming them for his difficulties, but they responded that he is short on cash because he often spends more than he earns. Among other things, he has purchased 14 homes across the world, an $18 million yacht (which he later sold to J.K. Rowling), 45 luxury cars, 70 collectible instruments, and a $30,000 monthly wine budget.

Donald Trump

Donald Trump proves that money cannot always buy taste. He paid $10 million on modifications after purchasing a Boeing 757 in 2011 for almost $100 million. These improvements included adding gold service buttons, seat belt buckles, and a 24-carat gold-plated sink.

Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton paid $325,000 on a villa for her dogs in 2009. The 300-square-foot dog mansion, which Hilton purchased in 2009, has two stories. It boasts a balcony, a chandelier made of black crystal, and designer furniture.

Miley Cyrus

In an attempt to prevent her dogs from getting annoying dog hair over her cars, Miley decided that she would instead buy them a Range Rover all to themselves. It goes without saying that a driver is included in this, as it is unlikely that any of them have a driving license.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga believes she is the reincarnation of her deceased late aunt and has a strong belief in the paranormal. She reportedly spent $50,000 on electromagnetic field readers to look for ghosts backstage at her concert.

Heidi Montag

The Hills star reportedly spent a staggering $10 million of her money in 2012 to get ready for the 2012 Mayan apocalypse. According to reports, Heidi and her husband Spencer Pratt went on a pre-apocalyptic spending frenzy, giving thousands of dollars to pals and paying people $200 for people to open doors for them.  The pair had to move back in with Pratt’s parents after their money ran out when the world did not end.

Final Thoughts

It is very easy to add to this list even more celebrities with a passion for lavish spending. For example, Victoria Beckham’s $33,000 gold iPhone or Bono’s $1,500 plane ticket for his forgotten hat. But is it fair to judge these stars for their extravagant purchases? After all, if we do manage to make ends meet at the end of the month, no one really complains if we reward ourselves with a little extra treat.
