New Rules live at Lafayette

British-Irish trio New Rules have had a few pretty eventful years – from signing to Parlophone to blowing up on TikTok and hitting the road alongside the likes of Picture This, Julia Michaels, and Little Mix, the band are undoubtedly one’s to watch. Only last year, they premiered their highly anticipated debut mixtape ‘Go The Distance’. After completing a number of shows in the US, including a sold-out performance at New York City’s renowned Mercury Lounge, they have recently returned to London for their sold-out show at Lafayette – and this was only the beginning of what is undoubtedly going to be a hugely successful tour.

Upon arrival, the venue was already buzzing with indescribable energy, and as soon as the band entered the stage, the crowd went hysterically feral – the excitement of every single fan in the venue was visible, and, judging from the screams, New Rules have exceeded all expectations. While other bands perform with a band in the background, or sometimes no band at all, New Rules consists of just Alec McGarry, Nathan Lambert, and Ryan Meaney and their three guitars – effortless guitar riffs, engaging with fans – and calling out their exes!, with both stripped-down and energetic tracks, as well as captivating melodies come with the package.

Playing fan favourites such as “Really Wanna Dance With You”, “Pasta” and “Drunk Texts”, the band delivered tune after tune, and it’s needless to say that the fans knew every single word to every single song which was made even more special by the intimacy of the Lafayette.

Overall, the lads from New Rules are truly forces to be reckoned with, and it’s going to be exciting to witness where their journey takes them. Those who are intrigued to see them live across the UK (you really should be!) can check out their upcoming tour dates here
